The International Hot Rod Association would like to wish a Happy 92nd Birthday to the legend among legends, 17-time World Champion “Big Daddy” Don Garlits.

The Florida native set dozens of records over his legendary career and was the first driver to surpass 200 mph in both the quarter-mile and eighth-mile. In 2019 at age 87, he set a world record of 189.03 mph for an electric dragster at Palm Beach International Raceway.

HOUSE SPRINGS, Mo. — The excitement is real as big money and big fun are guaranteed when the International Hot Rod Association brings back blasts from the past with the IHRA Hot Rod Classic.

The IHRA, along with partners Don Baskin Truck Sales LLC, M&M Transmission and Extreme Racing Oil, announces large guaranteed payouts to go along with the special black powder-coated IHRA Ironman trophies and specially designed IHRA medals for the winners in the different classes.

WIR, which has agreed to a renewal of its IHRA sanctioning agreement, has produced two of the last five IHRA Summit SuperSeries Junior Dragster World Champions. A.J. Leung won the IHRA Summit SuperSeries Junior Dragster World Championship in 2023, following Kyla Feit in 2019.

HOUSE SPRINGS, Mo. — For more than two decades, Summit Racing Equipment and the International Hot Rod Association have set the standard in bracket racing.

They continue to do so with today’s announcement the longest series partnership in bracket drag racing has been extended through the 2024 season.

SHELBY, N.C. — Seth Buff is continuing a family tradition in operating Shadyside Dragway.

His grandfather purchased the facility in 1980. More recently, Buff has done his part to keep a family atmosphere at the track which recently extended its IHRA sanction. 

EDINBURG, Texas — What an awesome way to start the IHRA Summit SuperSeries season at Edinburg Motorsports Park.

The South Texas track has an incredible IHRA kick-off race, which is both a double-points race and an IHRA Ironman Classic on Saturday, March 2. Racers will compete for the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies and also have the chance for IHRA membership renewal and chassis inspection.

JACKSON, Tenn. —  Don Baskin can’t hide his love for drag racing. 

His company, Don Baskin Truck Sales LLC, has become a major marketing partner of the IHRA Hot Rod Classic. Also an accomplished racer with over a dozen championships, Baskin loves how the International Hot Rod Association has brought back some of the great class and Pro Mod racing which the organization became famous for.

DYERSBURG, Tenn. — River Road Raceway has undergone a major renovation with track operator Danny Jones. 

The track features an all-concrete surface, all-new concrete walls and an all-asphalt pit area. They are in the midst of switching the lighting to LED bulbs. Now, River Road is taking the next step as the newest IHRA-member track.

HOLLY SPRINGS, Ms. — The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit SuperSeries World Finals presented by Strange Engineering is returning to Holly Springs Motorsports for a third straight year on Oct. 9-12.

The northern Mississippi track has proven to be a great venue for the invitational-only event which brings together IHRA-member track and divisional racing champions across North America. The venue features an 1/8-mile drag strip, eight staging lanes, concrete walls, guardrails and an uphill shutdown area.
