IHRA Junior Dragster Profile: Collin Russell

Sunday, 10 March 2024

HOUSE SPRINGS, Mo. — Experience has paid off for Collin Russell. The 16-year-old from Royse City, Texas has more experience drag racing than most people twice his age.

In his 10th year racing Junior Dragsters, Russell is coming off a big season when he captured the win at the IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Moser and FuelTech at Xtreme Raceway Park and placed fifth on the IHRA Summit SuperSeries National Top 10 list.

Russell, who races a 2022 Mike Bos dragster, calls his brother Carson his racing hero. His favorite parts of racing are hanging out with friends and the competition. He wants to drive a Chevy Luv truck like his brother after graduating from Juniors. He’d also to become an announcer at the bracket races.

Drag racing isn’t the only sport where the home-schooled Russell excels. He shoots NASP archery and has qualified for the nationals. He races slot cars during the offseason for the drag cars. Also showing musical talent, Russell plays bass guitar in his church’s youth praise band.

There are more talented IHRA Junior Dragster racers throughout North America. Keep up with our website and social media pages as we continue to highlight these great youngsters.
