- We love this sport!
- We wanted to bring this amazing track back to life!
- We wanted a closer to home option for our family and friends.
They certainly reached the last couple of goals as the track enjoyed a successful 2022 season. Now, they’re taking Ethridge Motorsports Park into the future with the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA).
From the time the Burlesons took over, many improvements have been made to the former US 43 Dragway, including the addition of an Accutime system.
“We want to be a family-friendly track that offers big money events, fun opportunities for the kids and keeps a great reputation for running things the right way,” the Burleson Family said in a statement.
They’re making a big statement with the move to IHRA. Now, their racers like Pro track champion Jonathan Chapman, No Box champion Jonathan Surratt, Junior Dragster champion Cam Chapman and others will get to participate in the IHRA’s established programs like the IHRA Summit SuperSeries, the most prestigious championship in bracket racing, and the IHRA Summit Team Finals.
They’ve certainly brought excitement to a scenic area which is close to the David Crockett State Park. Like the legendary frontiersman, there’s an adventurous spirit people those who live near Ethridge Motorsports Park appreciate.
They also appreciate the Burleson family’s commitment to local racing.
“With three generations involved in racing, they saw no better time to purchase the dragstrip and make improvements to keep it going for generations to come,” said Keeli Schuyler with the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. “Each car you see at the dragstrip is custom-built, the product of blood, sweat, tears and motor oil. Drag racing welcomes all makes and models in various divisions and classes.
“At Ethridge Motorsports Park, you can catch Pro, No Box and Junior Dragster classes race down the 1/8-mile drag strips at great speeds.”
Besides the normal bracket racing classes, they offer 6.0 and 7.0 Index classes. Ethridge also hosted JJ’s Armdrop, a race highlighted by a $5,000-to-win, small tire race in June.
The venue features over eight acres of paved parking, plenty of other spectator spots and 1,600 feet of shutdown area. There’s racing fuel, concessions and even an ATM available on site.
