After eight rounds of racing Saturday, three drivers remained in the main event. Bogacki, who had raced in an NHRA national event that morning in Super Gas, made the short jog with wife Jessica over to US41 to arrive just before the completion of round 1.

Despite not getting an early start, Bogacki ended in the $10,000-to-win final eight hours later. He used a reaction-time advantage and ran dead-on on dial to beat Eric Willenborg and take home the big check and the IHRA Ironman trophy.

Aaron Richards won the $1,000 No Box bonus after defeating Cody Nott in the final. He jumped into the eliminations with the Box cars in round seven. Willenborg defeated Richards in the semifinal round to face Bogacki in the final.

Tony Virgilio defeated Tucker Dhom in the Junior Dragster final. Dhom got his own victory later in the day in the golf cart race.

The competition was fierce Sunday with over a dozen double-0 total packages in round one alone. With three cars remaining in eliminations, Brian Whitworth took on Bottom Bulb bonus winner John Coyle. Whitworth defeated Coyle to advance to the final against Cole, who had a bye in the semifinals.

Whitworth had a reaction time advantage, but broke out, which gave Cole the victory.

Ava Valencia captured the Junior Dragster victory with Dhom her final-round opponent. Dhom reached three finals for the weekend if you include the golf cart race.

It was a huge weekend for the Cole family as Ashley’s younger brother, Brad, who doubled at round 6 Saturday before dropping an entry there and his second entry at five cars. Ashley doubled until round 6 Sunday before dropping her first entry. But, she raced the second entry all the way to the win.

The IHRA Ironman Classic program is offered to all member tracks. Prior to this program, a sportsman racer could only win an Ironman if they traveled to an IHRA Team Finals, Sportsman Spectacular or World Finals. This program gives local tracks a chance to create extra excitement in their bracket program and offer competitors a chance to win the prestigious Ironman.

Other IHRA Ironman Classic races are scheduled for June 10 at tracks in Ethridge Motorsports Park, Brainerd Motorsports Park and Pacemakers Outlaw Motorsports Park.
