Twenty-seven racers split the purse in the Moser Engineering $10,000 race, while prizes were awarded for the best losing packages in the completed first two rounds. With the IHRA Summit Sportsman Spectacular designed to be a fun-filled weekend, Donny Hagar was the Scrubblade golf cart race winner.
Former IHRA Quick Rod and Top Dragster world champion Travis Colangelo received a Summit Racing Equipment 10 x 20 tent as the first-round prize for the Box racers. Kevin Melhorn (No Box) earned a $100 Sunoco Race Fuels Certificate and Jesse Mitschke (Junior) was awarded a Summit 10 x 10 tent.
Defending IHRA Summit SuperSeries No Box World Champion Chris Black received an Abruzzi Transmissions $400 certificate towards an 8 or 9-inch converter in Round 2. Paul Fidler (Box) was the recipient of a $250 gift certificate from American Race Cars and Morgan Curtis took away a Summit Junior car cover.
Weather caused the cancellation of the races, but not until Joseph Capiccioni won the “Moser Money Round” $300 certificate in Round 3 for No Box racers.
More racers will get their opportunity to earn round prizes at the IHRA Summit Sportsman Spectacular event on May 23-24 at Keystone Raceway Park in New Alexandria, Pa.
