Easily one of the most competitive divisions in all of drag racing, the International Hot Rod Association’s Division 4 will be in action this weekend at State Capitol Raceway in Baton Rouge with one of the most exciting and most fun races on the schedule.
Beads, music, great food and even better weather are on tap for this weekend as State Capitol Raceway’s Lanny and Valerie Lewis provide their usual party atmosphere during the Renegades Division season opener on the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL.
You can catch all of the round-by-round action at Drag Race Central, the Official Race Results of the IHRA. You can also catch updates on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/nitrojam and a full race report and photos will be available next week.
Over the past four years the winningest drivers at State Capitol Raceway, Pro-Am or national event, are Glenn Wright, David Latino, Joe Teuton and Slate Cummings. Wright, the 2011 IHRA Top Sportsman World Champion, has been especially dangerous at the Louisiana track with a win there in each of the past three seasons.
Last year it was Latino and Bart Nelson making the most noise, doubling up in Super Stock and Hot Rod respectively, while Shannon Brinkley took home an Ironman in two different classes (Quick Rod and Super Rod). But the name you are most likely to see in the final at some point this weekend is Hidalgo as the father and son duo Jimmy Sr. and Jimmy Jr. have visited eight finals in the last three years at the track.
You can catch all of the action and follow along as it happens this Saturday and Sunday all at www.dragracecentral.com and be sure to check back with IHRA.com for compete race reports.
