The Aruba track joins drag strips in Canada, Australia and New Zealand as international tracks under the IHRA banner. Palo Marga International Raceway Park isn’t just any track, it’s the top racing facility in the entire Caribbean. It features a 1/4-mile drag strip and attracts over 30,000 spectators annually with an island population of less than 105,000 inhabitants.

There’s a long history between the island of Aruba and the International Hot Rod Association. For years, Aruba served as the chief destination for IHRA World Champions through the Summit SuperSeries program. There are many great hotels, resorts and condominiums on the island, making it an incredible site just 15 minutes off the coast of Venezuela.

While the island features fishing and many other water-related activities, the competitors at Palo Marga International Raceway Park are as passionate about the sport of drag racing as anywhere you’ll find. Team Aruba sent a contingent to participate in IHRA national events back in 2015-16 with them winning Pro Stock at the IHRA Canadian Nationals.

Since then, IHRA has gone back to its roots with Sportsman racing. It fits in perfectly with the racing in Aruba. There’s a variety of drivers in vehicles like street cars, dragsters and bikes testing their mettle as well as a large contingent of fans.

“It’s incredible to have such a great facility on this island paradise,” IHRA Division Director Frank Kohutek said. “There’s a tremendous passion for drag racing by the people of Aruba. We’re glad to have them a part of the IHRA family and to support them in any way we can.”
