Dart, Jones Transmission Cooling, Rock Battery, ATI, Clevite and Peak major contributors to championship dragster

Friday, 26 September 2014

In the final installment in the Summit SuperSeries championship dragster series, we look at six companies that provided key components to this year’s prize car – Dart, Jones Transmission Cooling Systems, Rock Racing Battery, ATI, Clevite and Peak. Without their help incredible prizes like this simply wouldn’t be possible. Next week we will look at the Mod ET prize package and thank the two biggest contributors to this year’s Summit SuperSeries prize packages.

*Over the coming weeks the International Hot Rod Association will be taking an in-depth look at the parts and the people that make the Summit SuperSeries prize package the greatest prize package in all of motorsports. The Summit SuperSeries winners in Top ET, Mod ET and Junior Dragster at the Summit World Finals will each take home an elaborate prize package courtesy of the many great companies that remain dedicated to the grassroots racer. Thank you to all of our great sponsors and friends who help make this incredible program possible*

Jones once again provides transmission cooling system for SuperSeries dragster

Bob Jones' hundreds of hours of R&D in his revolutionary pump cooling system will be utilized on the Summit Super Series dragster.

Jones Pump

The Jones Trans Pump utilizes your current transmission pan and transmission cooler to provide the consistent transmission fluid temperature that gives you the winning edge. When the system is activated the fluid is pumped from the bottom of the pan through the cooler and back into the inlet on the transmission case. This flow of cooled fluid not only cools the fluid in the pan but more importantly cools the internal transmission components. The system requires no internal drilling or lines in the transmission. Rock Racing

Reliable Rock Battery powers Summit SuperSeries prize dragster

Used by top IHRA Pro Stock and Pro Modified Racers, this Ideal battery system for sportsman race cars as well, will be the featured power source on the championship award dragster at the Summit World Finals.

Rock Battery

Rock 16V batteries feature absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery technology along with features like: lower internal resistance for repeated engine starts, faster recharging and sealed construction These batteries have a lower weight than conventional batteries plus a much better charge retention than lower cost wet cell batteries, even at high ambient temperatures.

ATI Performance Products a key contributor to this year's SuperSeries championship dragster

The Summit Super Series Dragster 572 cubic inch engine will be using the ATI Super Damper and adjustable timing pointer. These standard harmonic balancers from ATI are specifically high-rpm engines. Their proven elastomer is designed and tuned to eliminate harmful crankshaft harmonics that cause parasitic horsepower loss. They are actually two dampers in one-a 4 in. Diameter inner damper and a 6 3/8 in., 7 in., or 8 in. Diameter outer damper in two shells that bolt to the crank hub.

ATI Balancer

These dampers are engineered to all but eliminate worn parts and timing problems. They're tunable in the field, rebuildable, and extremely efficient at all rpm. Matched to the balancer, the ATI adjustable timing pointer is machined from quality billet aluminum and provide up to four degrees of adjustment to help ensure accurate timing and optimum performance. These pointers provide a high contrast against brightly painted or plated engine parts and are available for most popular engines. Veiw the entire line of balancer products at: www.atiracing.com

Clevite and IHRA continue partnership with bearings for championship dragster

Clevite coated H-Series main bearings were developed for all types of competition engines. They’re especially good for engines that run at medium-to-high revs. They have steel backings with carefully selected overlays and a high crush factor, plus a medium level of eccentricity.

Clevite Bearings

The H-Series bearings feature Clevite’s exclusive TriArmor coating, the industry’s only moly/graphite treatment. The sophisticated blend, in a low-friction PTFE polymer base, offers extraordinary protection and lubricity. Clevite’s H-Series bearings have enlarged chamfers at the sides for greater crank-fillet clearance and are made without flash plating for better seating. They’re also available with either 180 degree or 360 degree oil grooves, as well as extra .001 in. of clearance.
