Friday, 09 February 2024

HOUSE SPRINGS, Mo. — The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) is highlighting the talented youth across the country in a special series about those who race Junior Dragsters.

Evelynn David, a 10-year-old from New Lenox, Ill., is part of a family of racers with her papaw, dad and brother known as Tuffguy Racing. She will move up to 8.90 class this season at Bunker Hill Dragstrip.

She has been racing a 2011 Motivational for two years and hopes to duplicate the success of her racing hero Erica Enders. David won the Strange Engineering Perfectly Strange Award for a perfect time at a Midwest Junior SuperSeries race. She’s made it to the semifinals and now is looking forward to a first win.

She enjoys math in school, but loves being at the race track even more with the thrill of going fast and being around family and friends. Looking ahead, Evelynn would like to drive a door car in the Top ET class once she graduates from Junior Dragsters.
