IHRA Junior Dragster Profile: Wehling Sisters

Friday, 04 August 2023

HOUSE SPRINGS, Mo. — More than any other sport, the love of motorsports is passed on from generation to generation.

It’s certainly the case with the latest pair of Junior Dragster racers the International Hot Rod Association is highlighting. Elizabeth and Emily Wehling are third-generation drag racers from Omaha, Nebraska.

The sisters compete at Onawa (Iowa) Dragway and 13-year-old Elizabeth posted a win and runner-up finish in the Teen Championship Race recently at the track’s IHRA Ironman Classic event. Her 11-year-old sister, Emily, is also a recent winner at Onawa Dragway.

Elizabeth has been racing six years and loves the thrill of her Halfscale dragster at the starting line when the tree lights up. Her favorite subject in school is art and her favorite racer is two-time NHRA Top Fuel World Champion Brittany Force. Like Force, she’d like to follow her dad’s footsteps with a goal of hopefully racing one of his cars in the future.

Emily is in her fifth year racing a 2010 Huddleston Junior Dragster. Her grandpa is her racing idol and she loves the environment and the people at the track. Like her sister, art ranks as one of her favorite school subjects, along with math and reading. Her goals are to move up to a door car one day or to work at her home track.

More Junior Dragster racers will be highlighted on the IHRA.com website and our social media pages in the following weeks including young racers from Texas and Illinois.
