Xtreme Raceway Park, IHRA Agree to Multi-Year Extension

Tuesday, 07 November 2023

FERRIS, Texas — Xtreme Raceway Park was built by Pro Mod racer Clyde Scott who always kept the racer in mind. Keeping them in mind is a big reason the Texas track has extended its multi-year sanctioning agreement with the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA).

With the love for the sport and support from the entire Scott family, Clyde gave it his all to build the nicest 1/8-mile track in the country. He succeeded with a track that features an all-concrete racing surface with concrete walls, multiple 82-inch televisions throughout the facility, nice bleachers on both sides of the track and a drive-under tower.

Under the leadership of track operators Gaylen and Celeste Smith, the track has a reputation for being well prepped, offering reasonably priced concessions with good food and an emphasis on clean restroom facilities.

Conveniently located 20 miles Southeast of Dallas right off Interstate 45, it hosted the IHRA Division 4 (Renegades) Summit Team Finals each of the last four years and the IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Moser Engineering and FuelTech in 2023.

Xtreme Raceway Park racers have thrived in the IHRA programs like the Summit SuperSeries.

It includes 2023 IHRA Summit SuperSeries Top (Box) World Champion Jeromy Hefler, who qualified for the World Finals by winning the IHRA Sportsman Spectacular at Xtreme. Other Sportsman Spectacular winners included: Jake Howard (Mod / No Box), Billy Janousek (Sportsman), Gene Hudel (Motorcycle) and Collin Russell (Junior Dragster).

Xtreme track representatives at the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals presented by Strange Engineering were: Scott Wallace (Top), Jacob Pitt (Mod), Ryan Gleghorn (Sportsman), Dwayne McGee (Motorcycle) and Carter Poplawski (Junior Dragster).

Other racers qualified at the IHRA Division 4 Summit Team Finals which saw Xtreme Raceway repeat as team champions. Xtreme racers Brent Lancaster and Billy Simpson met in the Top final. Aaron Jordan used a .002 start to win the Sportsman final. XRP racers ranked in the IHRA Summit SuperSeries National Top 10 lists in four of five classes.

In addition, XRP was picked as the site to debut the new IHRA TV channel on YouTube.

Beyond the great bracket racing, XRP hosts a variety of great events including Pro Mods, Fuel Altereds, Pro Mod Bikes, Big Tire races and grudge races.

The final Xtreme Bracket Race of the season is coming up this weekend. Since weather delayed it from Halloween weekend, there are costume and trailer decorating contests, along with trick-or-treating.

It starts Friday with Gamblers races for the big cars and juniors, along with test-and-tune and grudge racing. The Xtreme Bracket Race is Saturday followed by more test-and-tune and grudge racing Sunday. Racers and fans come check out this amazing facility. You will be glad you did.
