HOUSE SPRINGS, Mo. — A pair of drag racing powerhouses have teamed together as the  International Hot Rod Association announced today that M&M Transmission has become a marketing partner through the IHRA Hot Rod Classic.

Founded in 1996 by Mark Micke, M&M Transmission specializes in race-winning and record-setting drag transmissions with trusted reliability and top technology. Micke loves how the IHRA is truly bringing back a blast from the past with the IHRA Hot Rod Classic.

“I like how they’re trying to revive the IHRA classes, especially Pro Mod,” he said. “Anything we can do to promote Pro Mod, we want to be a part of it.”

M&M Transmission has done plenty to promote Pro Mod through the performance of its products. Veteran racer Jose Gonzalez wheeled Micke’s 1969 Camaro to the quickest 1/4-mile run in Pro Mod history at 5.359 seconds and 272.94 mph in November at Bradenton (Fla.) Motorsports Park.

Micke gave a few details about the record-setting doorslammer.

“Our house car, a ’69 Camaro with Blake Housley Motorsports, it’s a twin-turbo Pro Mod HEMI and of course, M&M Transmission,” he said.

M&M Transmission is a most welcome addition to the IHRA’s group of great partners. IHRA CEO and Owner Larry Jeffers sees in M&M Transmission, a company like his own LJRC Race Cars built from the ground up through hard work. Micke, who got his start in the transmission industry at a GMC dealership, gained a reputation for being one of the most skilled craftsman around.

Micke worked with multi-time champion Troy Williams to make M&M Transmission one of the most respected businesses in the drag racing industry. It’s now grown where Micke has assembled a talented team which operates out of a 12,000-square feet facility in Jefferson City, Missouri.

“Mark is a diehard racer, dedicated to the sport of drag racing,” Jeffers said. “His reputation as a top transmission builder in the industry is well earned. We’re glad to have him join us as a partner in the IHRA Hot Rod Classic”

Micke holds a passion for the Pro Mods and credits the stability of the rules for creating the most competitive environment in drag racing.

“The racing in Pro Mod is the best of the best. You have competitiveness of it and high-quality teams,” he said. “In most racing, there are 8-10 high-caliber teams. Pro Mod, there are 50 teams that can win any race they’re going to.”
