IHRA Ironman Classic Coming to Pacemakers Outlaw Motorsports Park

Tuesday, 30 May 2023

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — What a weekend of racing Pacemakers Outlaw Motorsports Park has planned for June 9-11.

There’s the chance to compete for prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies and the opportunity to earn double points on two days as racers participate in the IHRA Summit SuperSeries points program, the most prestigious national championship in all of bracket racing.

But like old those late-night informercials used to say, “Wait, there’s more.” Pacemakers Outlaws MP is hosting the first-ever Junior Dragster Throwdown June 16-18    .

First is the IHRA Ironman Classic with Friday, June 9 featuring a test-and-tune. Gates open at 5 p.m. with the test-and-tune to start at 5 p.m.

Saturday, June 10 is a huge day with double points and the winners in each of the following classes: Top (Box), Mod (No Box), Sportsman, Motorcycle and Junior Dragster to receive an IHRA Ironman trophy. If that’s not enough, it’s also a double-points day.

In addition, the track is hosting the UMTR North vs. South Summer Nationals. Gates open at 9 a.m. with Junior Dragster time trials at 11 a.m. and big car time trials at noon. After everyone receives two timed runs, eliminations will follow.

If that’s not enough, Sunday’s IHRA Summit SuperSeries races will also pay double points. For someone racing the whole weekend, it’s a tremendous chance to rack up on the points.

Gates open at 8 a.m. Sunday with time trials to start at 10 a.m. and eliminations to follow. It’s affordable with entry fees and the winner to get 60 percent of the purse. Spectators can go one day for $15 or get a Friday-Saturday combination for $20 or the whole weekend for $30.

Kids 12-under get in free as do veterans and active military personnel with an ID.

The next weekend features the Junior Dragster Throwdown which starts Friday, June 16 with a test-and-tune followed by an All-Run Gamblers Race.

Saturday and Sunday action includes $1,000-to-win races for the 7.90, 8.90 and 11.90 classes. After that, there’s an All-Run race with $2,500 to the winner and $700 to the runner-up. The 11.90 cars will run separate until one is remaining.

There’s also the Saturday Night Old Timers Class for drivers 19 years and older, and a golf cart race to add to the fun. Finally to cap off the weekend on Sunday, June 18, the winners from Saturday and Sunday will run off for the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophy.

Entries are $20 for Friday’s Gamblers and Saturday’s Old Timers races, and $60 for the Saturday and Sunday index classes. Spectator tickets are $15 for one day and $25 for the weekend.

Gates open at 2 p.m. Friday with the test-and-tune at 3 p.m. and the Gamblers race at 6 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday see the gates open at 8 a.m. followed by time trials and eliminations. For more information and keep up to date, click here to check out the Pacemakers Outlaw Motorsports Park Facebook page.
