Trick Flow will be providing a powerful 572 big block Chevy to power this year’s Summit SuperSeries prize dragsters, while the extremely talented Jerron Settles at Imagine That Customs will be designing and painting the entire operation. Trick Flow to build powerful 572 big block Chevy to power Summit SuperSeries prize dragster

Grassroots drag racing’s biggest prize – the Summit SuperSeries prize dragster awarded to the Top world champion at the Summit World Finals – has all of the pieces to make it an award-winning, championship caliber ride. Built by TNT Supercars with an amazing design provided by Imagine That Customs, the only thing missing is an engine.

Until now.

For the third year in a row, Trick Flow Specialties in Tallmadge, Ohio will provide a top-of-the-line engine for the Summit SuperSeries prize dragster, making it as fast as it is breathtakingly beautiful.

This year, the cylinder head and airflow specialists at Trick Flow Specialties are building a 572 cubic inch big block Chevy engine for the Summit Racing SuperSeries dragster. Previously, Trick Flow has provided a 598 cubic inch big block Ford and a 565 cubic inch big block Chevy over the past two years for this build. Both engines broke the 1,000 horsepower mark and Mike Downs, Trick Flow General Manager, expects the 572 Chevy to do the same.

“We are quite confident it will make as much, or more, horsepower as our previous engines,” Downs said. “The 572 will feature our new all-CNC machined Trick Flow PowerPort® 365 cylinder heads, and the rest of the combination will be off-the-shelf parts so the average racer can easily duplicate the build.”

Founded in 2011, Trick Flow’s in-house engine specialists evaluate components and engine combinations using extensive dynamometer and road and track data to guarantee all Trick Flow products will exceed expectations for quality, durability and performance. Using sophisticated engine science, Trick Flow Specialties is quickly becoming a leader in the high-performance motorsports industry. And now that quality will take center stage on the biggest prize in grassroots racing.

This season the winner of the Top ET category in the Summit Racing Equipment SuperSeries presented by AMSOIL will take possession of the brand new car built by TNT Supercars. Major components are being provided by Trick Flow Specialties, Imagine That Customs and a number of the sport’s top manufacturers.

Last year’s Trick Flow-branded dragsters brought the audience at the IHRA Awards Celebration at Memphis International Raceway to their feet, and this year Downs and the incredible people at Trick Flow Specialties hope to once again create a bullet that is coveted by racers of all levels.

“We have enjoyed building these engines for the Summit Racing SuperSeries dragsters,” Downs said. “It’s very gratifying to see the winners of these cars race and do well with our engines. That’s the best way I know to showcase Trick Flow products and the talent of our people.”

Imagine That

Imagine That Customs returns as design provider for 2014 Summit SuperSeries dragsters

After doing stellar work for the 2013 IHRA Summit SuperSeries dragster builds with an eye-catching design lauded by the world’s best drivers, Imagine That Customs of Hughesville, Maryland, has been tapped to return as the official painter for the 2014 Summit Racing Equipment SuperSeries prize dragsters awarded to the winner of the Top and Junior Dragster World Championships at the Summit World Finals in October.

Founded in 2006 by exceptional artist Jerron Settles, Imagine That Customs provides award-winning designs for dragsters, door cars, roadsters, junior dragsters, golf carts and other racing and non-racing applications. A racer himself, Settles has dedicated his business to providing top-quality work for racers throughout North American and looks forward to once again providing the design and paint that will be featured on the prestigious Summit SuperSeries and Junior Summit SuperSeries prize dragsters.

“I am really excited about this year’s SSS build. The guys at Summit were great to work with last year and this year they decided to give me more freedom with the paint jobs,” Settles said. “When racers see this year’s cars, along with last year’s creations, I really want them to say ‘I have to win that’ and sign up for this great program.”

Settles began painting helmets in 2003 as a side project when not racing in IHRA and NHRA competition. After a few years of perfecting the craft, Settles opened Imagine That Customs with partner E.J. Parker in 2006 and has turned it into a fulltime business, painting upwards of 30-40 dragsters a year in addition to various other racecars and side projects.

Today, Settles’ designs can be seen on a virtual “who’s who” list of the world’s big money and sportsman drag racing champions.

His design last year blew the crowd away at the Summit Championship Celebration at the World Finals at Memphis International Raceway. The two cars were unveiled to the fanfare of all of the racers in attendance and the two lucky winners, Tim Lucas in Top and Justin Poindexter in Junior Dragster, expressed great excitement at the look of their brand new rides.

“Our paint has won numerous Best Appearing awards at IHRA and NHRA events. I personally come from a deep racing background as my father raced in local bracket races and in Hot Rod for years in addition to my own racing career,” Settles said.
