MOCKSVILLE, N.C. — Farmington Dragway is affectionately known as “The Farm” to drag racers and the Varner family harvested a pair of Ironman trophies and big checks from there at the IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Hagerty and Moser Engineering.

Billy Varner III captured Saturday’s Top (Box) victory and Calla Varner was the Sunday winner in the Junior Dragster ranks. Billy Varner III had a .006 reaction time and then cruised down the track at 64.35 mph after Adam Buchanan red-lighted in the other lane in Saturday’s Top final.

With the race tailored to Farmington’s different racing programs, Brent Hyatt took the Footbrake trophy after his outstanding .007 start, paired with his 6.054-second run at 109.41 mph. David Stebner was slower .046 at the tree and finished in 6.123 seconds at 111.03 mph.

Hailey Paschal took the Junior Dragster win with a run of 9.372 seconds at 68.92 mph. Jaxon Phillips had a solid 8.005-second run against an 8.00 dial-in at 80.53 mph. But, Phillips fouled by leaving -.025 too fast at the tree.

Hayden Lambert topped the list of Sunday winners by winning on a holeshot against Craig Marlowe in the Top final. Lambert left the starting line at .008 seconds, while Marlowe had .045 reaction time. Lambert’s run was 4.784 seconds at 141.38 mph, while Marlowe zipped down the track in 4.802 seconds at 145.07 mph.
