SSNC State Capitol Event Postponed Until Aug. 24-27

Tuesday, 01 August 2017

PORT ALLEN, La. — With the forecast calling for heavy rains throughout the weekend, the International Hot Rod Association and State Capitol Raceway have moved their Summit Sportsman National Championship race from this weekend to Aug. 24-27.

The format for the rescheduled triple-race weekend remains the same starting with a test-and-tune session on Thursday, Aug. 24, and three separate IHRA Summit Sportsman National Championship races following on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“We have to do what’s best for the racers,” IHRA division director Frank Kohutek said. “It’s unfortunate that we had to postpone the race again, but we have to provide the best experience for the competitors. Again, we appreciate State Capitol Raceway for working with us to come up with the best-possible date for the event.”

The IHRA Summit Sportsman National Championship returns to action on Aug. 18-20 with double-race weekends at Memphis International Raceway in Millington, Tenn., and Empire Dragway in Leicester, N.Y.
