Monday, 28 April 2014

John Dustin and Travis Housh led the way at the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL Division 1 season opener over the weekend at Richmond Dragway, taking home multiple trophies from the two-day event.

Dustin, from Rockville, Maryland, won three times in two different classes during the Division 1 doubleheader, sweeping Hot Rod and adding a win in Quick Rod on his way to the three-Ironman weekend. Travis Housh, from Weyers Cave, Virginia, added a pair of wins in Top Sportsman, while Richard Preiser, from Jackson, New Jersey, added a win and a runner-up in Super Stock from the Virginia track.

On Saturday Dustin got it done on the tree, producing a .007 reaction time and a 7.039-second pass at 96.73 mph in the 7.00 index class and on Sunday Dustin came even closer to perfection with a .012 light and a 7.009 at 96.75 mph. Both of his opponents broke out. Dustin’s third victory also came via breakout over Chad Duke as Dustin put together a 5.745 at 113.87 pass in the 5.70 index Quick Rod class.

Richmond’s other double winner was local product Travis Housh who drove his Chevrolet Corvette to a pair of wins over Brian Pryor and Gary Pitts in the quick doorslammer class. Housh’s Saturday win came in a close race with Pryor as Housh hit the tree with a .005 light and produced a 4.687 at 147.59 lap on a 4.67 dial to Pryor’s 5.013 at 140.49 on a 4.99.
