Historic Great Lakes Dragaway off to Another Great Start
UNION GROVE, Wisc. — Great Lakes Dragaway keeps adding to its rich history.
The nation’s oldest continually operating purpose-built drag strip in the country, hosted two days of IHRA Summit SuperSeries bracket racing over the weekend.
Mason Osborne was the Top ET and Combo winner on Saturday, April 26 with the Mod ET victory going to Brett Williamson. It was a particularly exciting time in the Street class for Krystn Penar. She got the win in her first-ever bracket race.
Dan McCarten had a fabulous start to the season winning in the Bike/Sled category both Saturday and Sunday. Ryder Vehring rounded out the Saturday winners, getting the win light in the Junior Dragster final against Brody Degnitz.
More great action took place on Big Check Sunday when Rick Scott was the Top ET and Combo winner. Ed Curtis captured the victory in the Mod ET class.
Further showing the impact that Great Lakes Dragaway has had on generations, Braeden Emmer beat his grandpa Dale in the Street final. Camille Zimmerman was victorious in Junior Dragster with Carson Wied her final-round opponent.
Great Lakes Dragaway stays one of the busiest drag strips in the country, and more great bracket racing is scheduled for this weekend. Racing is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Check out the track’s Facebook page for more upcoming events.
