Edinburg Motorsports Park to host IHRA Ironman Classic in One Week
EDINBURG, Texas — Edinburg Motorsports Park brings the excitement of the IHRA Ironman Classic to South Texas next Friday and Saturday, April 18-19.
It promises to be a fun-filled weekend with food and Easter games for the kids. The racing surface is noted for being level and smooth after a track profile grind and total track upgrade by Total Venue Concept in 2024.
Racing starts Friday at 7 p.m. with a Gamblers Race. Racing starts at 4 p.m. Saturday headlined by a $3,000-to-win Top ET race based on 25 entries at $100. The Mod payout is $2,000 and an Ironman based on 15 entries at $100. The Motorcycle class is racing for a $700 prize and an Ironman, while the Sportsman and Junior Dragster winners each receive $500 and an Ironman.
The race also features double points. In addition, there is a 7.0 Index race paying $1,500 to the winner and a 5.80 Index race with a $1,000 winner’s purse.
The IHRA Ironman Classic program is offered to all IHRA member tracks. Prior to this program, a Sportsman racer could only win an Ironman if they traveled to an IHRA Summit Team Finals, Sportsman Spectacular or World Finals. This program gives local tracks a chance to create extra excitement in their bracket program and offer competitors a chance to win the prestigious Ironman trophy.
Racers tech cards are $40, while spectators and crew get in for $15. Kids 12-under are admitted free. To keep up with the latest news about Edinburg Motorsports Park for these and other events, check out the track’s Facebook page.
