Rocket City Dragway ready to launch ‘Drive for 5’ races
HARVEST, Ala. — Rocket City Dragway has five great race weekends with great payouts named the “Drive for 5” coming up.
The first of these races presented by Huntsville Engine Performance is April 18-19, which will be a Friday and Saturday due to Easter weekend. These races feature guaranteed purses of $5,000-to-win and $1,500 to the runner-up no matter what the car count is. The entry fee is just $150 for both days.
Junior Dragsters will compete for a $500 top prize. It’s just $25 each day to enter.
Gates open Friday at 8 a.m. with time runs at 9 a.m. and eliminations to follow. Saturday’s schedule is gates open at 8 a.m., new time runs at 9 a.m. and eliminations to follow. Spectator entry is $15 for a single day for $25 for both days.
There’s also a test-and-tune Thursday night with gates opening at 5 p.m.
Four more weekends comprise the “Drive for 5” schedule. They are May 17-18, July 19-20, Sept. 20-21 and Nov. 1-2. These are all Saturday-Sunday races with test-and-tune sessions on Friday.
