Shadyside Dragway Opens 2025 IHRA SuperSeries season
SHELBY, N.C. — Shadyside Dragway opened its IHRA Summit SuperSeries season last weekend with multiple racers getting off to strong starts.
The North Carolina drag strip recently announced its 2025 points fund with the Super Pro and Pro paying $1,500 to the class champions. The 6.0 Index champion receives $1,000, and the payouts $500 for Sportsman and Junior Dragster.
Chris Reaves was the Super Pro winner on Saturday with Gail Whisnant the runner-up. Chad Dotson drove his green Chevy Nova to the Pro victory with Matt Ward his final-round opponent.
David Lester also drove a Nova to the win in 6.0 Index over runner-up Billy Pickle. Andy Chavis captured the Sportsman win and Robert Hamrick also made it to the final round. Jaydn Price topped Chaz Nichols in the Junior Dragster final.
Hunter Buchanan won the TCR race with Blaise Loaces also making the final. Joseph Bagwell and David Lambert split the winnings for the 4.90 Outlaws finals.
The hot action continued on Sunday as Will Dotson raced his dragster to the Super Pro victory. It was his first big car win on his 18th birthday with Adam Buchanan the runner-up finisher.
Shannon Woodring powered to the Pro victory with Dalton Dotson also in the final round. Ed Pauley was the 6.0 Index winner and Mike Sigmon was the runner-up. Jordan Philbeck was the Sportsman winner as Aaron Plemmons also reached the final round.
Jim Cairnes picked up the 4.90 Outlaws victory and Roger Lester posted a runner-up finish. Joseph Monteleone beat Blaise Loaces in the TCR final. Loaces was the runner-up for a second straight day. Oakley Humphries took the Junior Dragster win over Bryant Crawford.
There isn’t any competition racing this weekend, but there’s plenty of action with test-and-tune sessions scheduled for Thursday and Sunday.
