IHRA Junior Dragster Profile: Danny Ellis
HOUSE SPRINGS, Mo. — The International Hot Rod Association continues to highlight the best young racers across the country in a special series.
Danny Ellis, a.k.a. Stitch, has been racing since 2017 in Junior Dragsters and now in a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. The 17-year-old from Burbank, Illinois considers Alex Laughlin and John Force his racing heroes.
He is a very accomplished racer winning the prestigious IHRA Ironman for the Junior Dragster class in 2019 at US 41 Dragstrip in Morocco, Illinois. Each of the last two seasons, he’s also competed in the IHRA Division 5 (Thunder) Summit Team Finals. His other major wins include being the track champion at Route 66 Raceway and winning the Junior Dragster race at the World Series of Drag Racing.
Ellis loves competing and especially winning at the different tracks and making new friends. He loves the adrenaline leading up to a race. It’s little surprise his favorite school subjects are auto body and history.
