Green, Greene, Gillespie, Miles and Smith are IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Moser Winners at Ethridge

ETHRIDGE, TN — Five racers including a pair named Green and Greene were amongst the winners in Saturday’s completion of the IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Moser Engineering at Ethridge Motorsports Park.

Kyle Green in Pro (Box), Jock Greene in No Box, Kendall Gillespie in Sportsman, Baley Miles in Motorcycle and Leah Smith in Junior Dragster won the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies, commemorate medals and big checks. Racers that were current IHRA members qualified for the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals.

Green took the Box victory and the $5,000 winner’s purse with a terrific .004 start, while runner-up James Crabtree was just -.013 too quick at the tree. Green posted a 5.677-second run at 120.39 mph in his yellow Chevy Vega. Crabtree’s foul erased a potential winning pass of 4.968 seconds at 138.76 mph.

Add an ‘e’ to the No Box winner’s name as Jock Greene posted a 6.653-second pass at 102.58 mph against a 6.65 dial-in with a .014 in his red Chevy Camaro. His final-round opponent broke out with a 6.288-second run against a 6.29 dial-in time.

Gillespie took the Sportsman win after Thomas Kleppin fouled by the slimmest of margins -.001 at the start. Gillespie cruised to the win a 12.737-second run after a .094 reaction time. Kleppin posted an 8.062-second run at 83.60 mph.

Miles put together a solid effort of a 5.819-second pass at 120.58 mph against a 5.81 dial-in paired with a .029 reaction time. Her final-round opponent had an even better start at .009, but came up just a little short at 5.704 seconds and 116 mph against a 5.66 dial-in.

Two of the talented young racers paired off in the Junior Dragster final. Smith scored the win as Max Collins trigged the red light. Smith got off to a .096 start, while Collins went down the drag strip in 7.812 seconds and 82.84 mph.

The IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Moser Engineering returns to the Volunteer State on August 24 at River Road Raceway in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Ethridge Motorsports Park will host an IHRA Ironman Classic on August 24.
