Pennington, Simpson, Janousek, Baugh, Roberts win Gamblers Races at IHRA Division 4 Summit Team Finals

FERRIS, TX — Five racers had star performances in the Lone Star State on Friday evening with their Gamblers wins at the IHRA Division 4 (Renegades) Summit Team Finals.

Peeps Pennington (Box), Billy Simpson (No Box), Billy Janousek (Sportsman), David Baugh (Motorcycle) and Makenzie Roberts (Junior Dragster) took home the wins in their respective classes at Xtreme Raceway Park.

Pennington, representing Edinburg Motorsports Park, was spot-on with a 4.543-second elapsed time at 150.85 mph on a 4.54 dial-in with a .011 reaction time. Bryson Parks, representing the home track, had a strong effort with a 5.187-second run at 128.46 mph on a 5.18 dial-in, along with his .023 start.

Simpson, also from Xtreme, had the terrific .005 start to take the No Box victory. He finished in 5.465 seconds at 104.07 mph. Runner-up Rodney Parks from Wichita Falls was a little too quick at the tree, fouling by just -.005 seconds.

In a final of Little River Dragway racers, multi-time champion Janousek was right on his 7.40 dial-in with a 7.409-second pass at 85.73 mph, along with a .035 start. Lee Scheetz broke out from his 7.85 dial-in time with a run of 7.832 seconds at 86.12 mph.

Baugh of Penwell Knights was another with a double O start, going .008 at the tree on a 5.836-second pass at 118.67 mph on a 5.80 dial-in. The holeshot made the difference as Michael Turman from Little River was clocked at 5.824 seconds and 117.89 on a 5.81 dial-in with a .045 reaction time.

Roberts from Xtreme Raceway Park got the Junior win as her final-round opponent, Dillon Hagood from Amarillo Dragway, triggered the red light. Roberts’ numbers included an 8.006-second run at 80.99 mph on an 8.00 dial-in after a .017 reaction time. Hagood, who was just -.005 too quick at the start, posted a 7.934-second run at 83.06 mph on a 7.93 dial-in.
