Fitzgerald, Janousek, Turman Pair, Gossett and Graves Win IHRA Division 4 Summit Race of Champions

FERRIS, TX — There were a half-dozen winners at the Race of Champions on Saturday at the IHRA Division 4 (Renegades) Summit Team Finals at Xtreme Raceway Park.

Jay Fitzgerald (Box), Michael Turman (No Box), Billy Janousek (Sportsman), Michael Wayne Turman (Motorcycle) and Ayden Gossett (Junior Dragster) all received special IHRA Ironman trophies. Lucas Graves also won a Team Championship Race.

Fitzgerald, representing Edinburg Motorsports Park, won the Box class as Scott Wallace broke out in the final round. Both were excellent at the tree with .009 and .010 starts. Fitzgerald ended with a 4.813-second pass at 139.75 mph on a 4.79 dial-in. Wallace went 6.265 seconds at 106.71 mph on a 6.27 dial-in.

Turman, a Little River racer, noted for his skill on two wheels, proved to be just as tough on four in the No Box final. He posted a winning effort of 5.819 seconds at 116.2 mph on a 5.81 dial-in with a .029 reaction time. Jake Howard, who scored a win in the Division 4 main event, was a close second going 6.359seconds at 106.89 mph on a 6.35 dial-in and a .033 reaction time.

Janousek from Little River, cruised to the Sportsman victory when final-round opponent Richard Wagner fouled at the start. Janousek went 9.335 seconds at 47.00 mph on a 7.40 dial-in. After leaving early, Wagner went down the track in 10.008 seconds at 79.97 mph against a 10.01 dial-in.

It was an all-Turman final round on the bikes. Michael Wayne Turman from Little River was quicker at the start and parlayed that into a winning effort. He finished in 5.825 seconds at 119.90 mph on a 5.80 dial-in with a .012 reaction time. Michael Turman, looking to double up, posted a 5.864-second run at 117.92 mph on a 5.86 dial-in after leaving .033 at the tree.

Gossett from Penwell Knights denied the Janousek double. He had the holeshot .025 to .064 and was spot-on with this 7.91 dial-in with a 7.915-second run at 81.32 mph. Ty Janousek, who was runner-up at the 2023 IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals, barely missed his 7.90 dial-in at 7.897 seconds at 79.97 mph.

Graves was the TCR winner with final numbers which included 11.762 seconds at 56.28 mph on an 11.52 dial-in with a .014 reaction time. Paisley Hale earned runner-up honors and went 9.369 seconds at 75.92 mph against a 9.25 dial-in after a .258 start.
