Lorenzo “Killer” Brooks

MILAN, Mich. — There was a “killer” celebration Sunday at the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series Pro-Am races at Darana Dragway.

The races were live streamed on IHRA.TV with the exciting action of both the Nitro and Sportsman classes.

Lorenzo “Killer” Brooks took the win in Top Sportsman after he got a needed advantage at the starting tree. Brooks was .034 at the start compared to .055 for his final-round opponent, Mike Badia. Brooks then went 4.552 seconds on a 4.52 dial-in. Badia was 4.408 against a 4.38 dial-in time.

Kirby McLennan
Kirby McLennan, Top Dragster winner

Kirby McLennan and Jeff Smith Jr. were right on their dial-in times in Top Dragster. McLeenan was better with a .025 to .040 reaction time and then was 4.245 seconds on a 4.24 dial-in to score the win. Smith was plenty tough with a 4.448-second run on his 4.44 dial-in.

Steve Taylor
Steve Taylor, Quick Rod

It was a rugged route for Quick Rod winner Steve Taylor, who beat Columbus winner Jamie Elrod in the opening round and then No. 1 qualifier Leo Zynda III in the semifinals. He took the final win over Kris Fields, who had a near-perfect .002 start. Fields barely broke out with an 8.898-second run from the 8.90 Index, while Taylor was right on his time with an 8.902-second pass.

Rock Haas
Rock Haas, Super Rod winner

Rock Haas got the jump in Super Rod with an .008 reaction time. He paired it with a 9.963-second pass on a 9.90 Index. Runner-up Bob Prose posted a .029 reaction time, but broke out with a 9.888-second run.

Shawn Pitts
Shawn Pitts, Hot Rod winner

Shawn Pitts was the Hot Rod winner as Scotty Reinschield was just -.003 too quick at the start. Pitts had a solid .023 reaction time and went down the drag strip in 10.925 seconds in the 10.90 Index race.

Chris Ruzicka
Chris Ruzicka, Super Stock winner

The Super Stock final was also determined by a -.003 foul. Chris Ruzicka raced on to the win as he went 9.225 seconds on a 9.03 dial-in. A.H. Adkins was slightly too quick at the start, which cost him a potentially winning effort at 9.143 seconds on a 9.13 dial-in.

Aaron Allison
Aaron Allison, Stock winner

Aaron Allison got off to a good start to take the Stock victory. Allison was .024 quicker than Harold Thompson Jr. at the tree. That secured the win as he posted a 10.985-second run on a 10.96 dial-in. Thompson, who had a 10.52 dial-in time, posted a run of 10.535 seconds.

Taylor Dietsch
Taylor Dietsch, Factory Stock winner

Factory Stock featured an all-Dietsch final. Taylor Dietsch picked up the win as Jaden Dietsch fouled at the start. Taylor Dietsch had a fast pass down the track in 7.868 seconds at 174.28 mph.

Anthony Mini
Anthony Mini, Outlaw Snowmobile winner

No. 1 qualifier Anthony Mini was the Snowmobile / Sleds victory with a 4.355-second run at 162.10 mph. Mini had a .011 reaction time compared to .034 for Rob Lowe Sr. Lowe, who bested his son Rob Lowe Jr. in the semifinal round, made it down the drag strip in 4.585 seconds at 164.35 mph.

The IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series returns Sept. 3-6 at Darana Raceway - Hebron (formerly National Trail Raceway) in Hebron, Ohio.
