Maryland’s No. 1 team outdistanced Roxboro Motorsports Park 64-39. The No. 2 MIR team was third with 32 points, one point ahead of Sumerduck Dragway’s No. 1 team. US 13 Dragway and another Sumerduck Dragway team also participated.
Jacob Nahory from Pasadena, Md., led the individual winners with his Top (Box) victory. Although both drivers broke out in the final round, Nahory’s .006 reaction time proved to be the difference against Robbie Parlett. Nahory posted a run of 5.061 seconds at 132.90 mph against a 5.07 dial-in. Parlett had a .017 start and then went 4.671 seconds at 143.81 mph with a 4.68 dial-in.
Bobby Mattera and Russ Archer, who had matched up earlier in the weekend in a Gamblers race, faced off in the Mod (No Box) final. Mattera, driving a 1970 Buick, went 5.628 seconds at 120.58 mph against a 5.62 dial-in. Archer was slightly quicker at the tree .021 to .023, but broke out with a 6.684-second pass at 99.18 mph.
The Sportsman final featured a battle of Virginia drivers. Glenda Cochran from Amelia, Va., was the winner in her 2004 Pontiac GTO after another breakout. Cochran finished in 8.171 seconds at 84.78 against an 8.15 dial-in with a .096 reaction time. Ted Hudson from Scottsboro, Va., posted a 7.815 et at 87.70 mph, slightly quicker than his 7.82 dial-in, after a .083 start.
Brandon Sullivan was the Junior Dragster winner when Ryleigh Nebel fouled at the start. Sullivan from Radford, Va., had a 7.577 elapsed time at 83.06 mph against a 7.56 dial-in along with a .034 reaction time. Nebel’s quick start negated a potential winning run of 7.908 seconds at 82.47 mph against a 7.90 dial-in.
