Racing Electronics a Fixture at Tracks Across the Country

Wednesday, 12 September 2018
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.-  If you attend any race across the country you notice fans, track workers, officials, and more wearing Racing Electronics headsets and radios to communicate or listen to racing action.  Racing Electronics, is the official and exclusive two-way radio provider of the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA).
Racing Electronics began in the small town of Absecon, N.J. just minutes from Atlantic City. Racing Electronics’ founder Bruce Silver attended a stock car race as a guest and had the opportunity to listen to the team’s in-car communication.  The experience was memorable enough that Silver asked a question that would change his life and career - what if all fans could enjoy the same exciting race-day experience?

Silver began his business by placing an advertisement in a newspaper and he began selling scanners to race fans as Christmas gifts.  After seeing the positivity from that risk with sales sky rocketing and race teams requesting in-car communication equipment, Racing Electronics was born in 1988.

In 2005, Racing Electronics made a huge leap from its tiny office in Abescon to Concord, N.C., to better serve the racing community. The company employs over 60 workers producing some of the finest headsets, wiring harnesses, and other equipment.

“Sanctioning bodies and track promoters are constantly reinventing the race day experience in search of greater fan engagement and ways to connect their ticket buyers with the sport they love,” said Chad Willis, Racing Electronics President of Motorsports.  “Thanks to Bruce Silver’s vision, Racing Electronics has been providing the most immersive fan engagement available to fans for three decades.  There’s nothing that elevates a fan’s enjoyment and understanding of racing more than listening to live, uncensored team communications via a scanner or radio and headphones while sitting in the grandstands at the event.”

Racing Electronics is the No. 1 race communications company in the world, and the original company mission remains:  provide quality equipment at the right price with outstanding customer service. Stay true to the mission, and a gamble can pay off - a brilliant idea can transform a hobby into a business.
