However, by far the most prestigious event at Cordova and one that brings in sold-out crowds from all over the world is the O’Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing. The 65th annual three-day event takes place August 23-25 and features some of the world’s best drag racers participating in exhibition runs, match racing, and competitive elimination. Some of the confirmed names for this year’s event are Masters of Ceremonies, Don “Big Daddy” Garlits, Shirley “The First Lady of Speaking of heroes, Cordova has also been a starting point for many aspiring drivers and crew members.
