Thunder Jam returns to West Palm Beach October 6 with ‘monster’ finale featuring Grave Digger, jets and much more

Wednesday, 26 September 2012

Monster matchups, monster show and monster trucks.

Thunder Jam’s return to Palm Beach International Raceway October 6 certainly has all the makings for one of the biggest shows in Thunder Jam history.

Home to one of Thunder Jam’s biggest all-time events, the series will make its triumphant return to the West Palm Beach track with a show that promises to rock the Sunshine State featuring the Grave Digger and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle monster trucks going head-to-head, jumping cars and even racing a jet dragster in addition to performances by the “Spirit of Alabama” jet dragster, a battle of the jet trains between the “Cannonball Express” and “Chattanooga Choo-Choo”, Pro Mods, Beat the Heat and a huge sportsman showdown featuring over $1 million dollars worth of the most powerful drag cars on earth.

And it can all be seen for the incredible price of $20 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. Gates open at 4 p.m. followed by the AMSOIL Pit Party at 5:30 p.m. and Thunder Jam at 7 p.m.

“This is the event everyone has been waiting for,” said Thunder Jam Operations Manager Jim Marchyshyn. “Palm Beach has long become one of the biggest stops for Thunder Jam and now we are returning with a show unlike any other. And this year we expect to put on a show Florida fans will be talking about for a long, long time.”

Easily the “biggest” main event in Thunder Jam history, the main attraction at the Palm Beach Thunder Jam will be the debut of the monster truck showdown between the Grave Digger monster truck driven by Monster Jam superstar Randy Brown and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle piloted by Joey Parnell. Not only will these two incredible machines go head-to-head, but Florida fans will also see them jump cars and even race a 300 mph jet dragster all on tires bigger than most full-size racecars.

The 1950 style Chevrolet truck known as Grave Digger has become an icon of the sport with its ghoulish green and black paint job and menacing red headlights and has made a name for itself with its go-or-go-home style of racing. Weighing in at nearly 12,000 pounds and powered by a 575 cubic inch Chevy Big Block engine, Grave Digger has garnered four Monster Jam Points Championships, one Freestyle Championship and two Monster Jam World Racing Championships while under the direction of a handful of drivers.

And the jet dragster in the middle of that madness is the famous “Spirit of Alabama”. Capable of speeds of over 300 mph with a huge fire and smoke show to boot, the “Spirit of Alabama” will test its might in a handicap race against a truck 10 times its size. The “Spirit of Alabama” will be joined by the battle of the Jet Trains as jet legend Casey Jones brings his famous “Cannonball Express” and “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” jets to do battle at over 300 mph.

Also in action at the Palm Beach Thunder Jam will be the Beat the Heat police force, Pro Mods, over $1 million dollars worth of the most powerful drag cars on the planet competing for a win in front of the capacity crowd and much more.

In addition to all the on-track action, fans will also be able to take part in the AMSOIL Pit Party right before the start of the show. The AMSOIL Pit Party features driver autographs including an opportunity to meet Monster Jam stars Randy Brown and Joey Parnell, get up close and personal with Grave Digger, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and all of the stars of Thunder Jam and an opportunity to win cool prizes and tour the pits.

Tickets for the October 6 event are just $20 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under).Tickets are available day of show at the gate and at www.racepbir.com . Gates open at 4 p.m. and, as always, parking and access to the Thunder Fest Pit Party is free with admission.
