The goal is to prove you’re the best of the best and take home the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophy and become world champion in either Top (Box), Mod (No Box), Sportsman or Junior Dragster. With thousands of drivers at nearly 100 IHRA-member tracks competing at the start of the season, it is truly the most prestigious championship in all of bracket racing.
Top and Mod racers will compete for a $20,000-to-win World Championship payout from Summit Racing Equipment as well as the aforementioned IHRA World Champion Ironman, an IHRA Gold Card and an IHRA Diamond Ring. The championship package for the Junior Dragster class is $10,000-to-win and Sportsman is $7,000-to-win. The runner-up payouts include $7,000 for Top and Mod, and $4,000 for Sportsman and Junior Dragster.
Racers have come from as far west as Montana and the Dakotas and as far northeast as Upstate New York to Mississippi for this invitation-only event. They’ve come from South Texas and South Florida, and even north of the border in Canada.
Wes Griffiths and Skylar Klasen represent Interlake Dragway in Manitoba, over 2,200 miles from the site of this year’s World Finals.
On the other end of the travel spectrum are Holly Springs own champions — David Smith (Top), Keith Powers (Mod), Brad Davis (Sportsman) and Christian Alsip (Junior Dragster) — who would like nothing better than to win the most prestigious bracket racing championship on their home track. Holly Springs Motorsports is a track known for great racing and is the home of 2021 Mod World Champion Tim Pace.
There’s plenty of track time with Thursday’s test-and-tune plus Friday’s qualifying and Gamblers races. It leads into Saturday’s action-packed day of qualifying and eliminations as we crown new IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Champions.
