It led to tight competition throughout the classes at the 1/8-mile South Carolina track.
Damon Smith from Rock Hill, S.C., drove his dragster to the Top Eliminator (Box) victory with Timmy Ramey from Pickens, S.C., taking the runner-up spot. The final came down to thousandths of a second with both drivers dead-on with their dial-in times.
Vernon Russell III from Leesville, S.C., piloted his blue Chevy Malibu to the Modified (No Box) victory over Evan Sansenbaugher, who was one of the best racers in the Midwest before moving to South Carolina.
It was an all-Chevy Sportsman final with David Hoyt from West Columbia, S.C., scoring the win in his red Camaro. Andy Chavis was the runner-up in his silver Nova.
Ross Dochterman was victorious in the Teen Championship Racing (TCR) program race. Josey Thompson finished runner-up in the class, which was developed for the racers of tomorrow.
The youth movement also included Wesley Clark taking the Junior Dragster victory. Jimmy Guillen III was his final-round opponent. The highest ranking semifinalists were: Cam Garrett (Top Eliminator), Robert Hamrick (Modified), Dustin Carroll (Sportsman), Kalie Tate (TCR) and Jaydn Price (Junior).
