Summit Super Series Rules Clarification

Monday, 21 September 2015

For the first time in 2015, the final six spots in the Summit Super Series field is being determined by comparing all the runner-up runs in Summit Super Series race held at each Summit Team Final.  The term “best package” has been used as a way to describe the values that are used in determining the six spots.

It was determined by IHRA a number of months ago that we would rank each run as “closest to perfect”, meaning that a run that is -.001 red and dead on the dial-in with a 0 would be ranked as a .001 package and be considered a better run then someone who was .020 green and .01 over their dial for a .03 package.   The overall package was calculated as a total number away from perfect regardless of foul starts or breakouts.

The object of the ranking system to determine the final spots is one that simply calculates the amount of time away from a perfect run a competitor turns in during the final round of the Summit Super Series race.  There has been some confusion and questions regarding the ranking of packages recently and we wanted to clear up how the ranking system worked and what the intent is in determining the final spots in the field.
