Racers Win Round Prizes at IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Hagerty and Moser Engineering at Onawa Dragway

ONAWA, Iowa — Multiple racers went home winners from the IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Hagerty and Moser Engineering thanks to the support of the International Hot Rod Association’s great partners.

Beyond the big prizes for those who advanced the furthest in eliminations which included special bonuses to the race winners from Collins Motorsports, round prizes were awarded for the best reaction times of the first three rounds.

Four drivers were awarded $50 Summit Racing Equipment certificates for their Saturday round 1 efforts. Wes Collins was the Top (Box) recipient, while others who posted the best times were: Glen Knight Jr. (Mod), Jason Hueshen (Sportsman) and Salva Rudo (Junior Dragster).

Drivers in the four different classes won both a $50 Summit certificate and a $25 American Race Cars certificate after round two. Brenden Blakney was the Top prize winner. Marshall Chase was the Mod round prize winner along with Sam McCarty in Sportsman and Gunner Dingus in Junior Dragster.

Third-round prizes included $200 Jones Transmission Cooling System bonuses towards the purchase of a cooling system. Nate Tilson had the best time among the Top (Box) racers. Tom Salter earned the (Mod) prize, while Dave “Bloodhound” Heywood sniffed out the Sportsman bonus. Cecilia Slifka won a new Summit Racing Equpiment cover for her Junior Dragster.

Round 1 prize winners Sunday included a pair of hometown racers. Bob Noeret (Mod) and Ross Richards (Junior) from Onawa each were presented with $25 American Race Cars certificates. The others who won the round 1 prizes were: Shawn Stougard (Top) and Joe McCarty (Sportsman).

Summit Racing Equipment $50 certificates were presented to: Dave Vande Griend (Top), Zack Zebroski (Mod), Henry Vest (Sportsman) and Noah Fuller (Junior).

Brenden Blakney won his second round-prize of the weekend after Sunday’s third round. He got a $200 Jones Transmission Cooling System bonus towards the purchase of a cooling system. Brent Kopejtka (Mod) received a $25 American Race Car certificates. Sportsman racer Terry Vanderzanden received a $50 Sunoco fuel card, while Junior Dragster driver Tyler Honomichi was the winner of a $50 Summit Racing Equipment certificate.
