Mueller Pulls Off A Sweep Of Quick Rod At Summit Pro-Am Finale

Tuesday, 08 September 2015

Steve Mueller entered the largest Summit Pro-Am Tour event of the season at Carolina Dragway in need of a solid weekend to break into the top three in points in order to earn a trip to Memphis.  The Pinellas Park, Florida resident and Division 2 competitor just happened to pick the largest Summit Pro-Am event of the season and one that had racers from five different divisions competing at it.

Not only was Mueller able to salvage his season and drive his way into the Summit Tournament Of Champions, but he also made history in the process.  Mueller pulled off a sweep of Quick Rod by winning three consecutive Summit Pro-Am events held during the weekend.  Mueller was .002 in the day one finals against Jessica Dean, .018 in the day two finals against John Brannen and .001 in the day three finals against John Bridges.  A final points review was not finished at press time but Mueller’s performance should be good enough to have earned him the Quick Rod Division 2 Championship.

In Stock, D9 competitor Jeff Longhaney took care of business on day one and day three with a double victory.  Longhaney took out Jimmy Bryant and Willie Mylin in the each of the finals to grab his double.  In Top Dragster it was Cameron Manuel pulling off a double during day two and day three action.  Manuel was able to defeat class hitters Steve Furr during day two and Jeffery Dobbins II in the day three finals.  Not to be outdone, Junior Beginner D9 competitor Kate Hall grabbed her own double by winning day one and day three.  Hall defeated D2 racer Julian Puya and D9 racer Logan Westmorland for the double win.
