IHRA announces 2015 Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour schedule

Wednesday, 26 November 2014

The International Hot Rod Association announced today the official schedule for the 2015 IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL season.

The 2015 edition of the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour will feature more than 40 races at 23 facilities across North America. With the recent announcement regarding the return of national event class racing at all Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series events, each division will feature a mixture of single and double events stretching from February to September.

The Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour will also remain the only path to the year-end Summit Racing Equipment Tournament of Champions presented by AMSOIL crowning the IHRA World Champions in Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Super Stock, Stock, Quick Rod, Super Rod and Hot Rod. The top three finishers in each division will move on to the championship tournament at Memphis International Raceway to close the year.

“We are very excited to announce the 2015 edition of the Summit Racing Pro-Am Tour. This year’s schedule is quite diverse with a number of new stops and brand new opportunities for our racers,” said Mike Baker, IHRA Senior Director of Competition. “We are also excited to once again partner with Summit Racing Equipment, AMSOIL and all of our great contingency sponsors to bring this program to our racers. We are looking forward to another great season in 2015.”

The 2015 Summit Pro-Am Tour will officially get underway the weekend of February 6-8 with a pair of Wild Card events. Immokalee Regional Raceway will host its annual Wild Card competition to open the season, while Southwestern International Raceway in Tucson will return to hosting a full slate of IHRA sportsman racers with a single Wild Card Pro-Am event.

Beginning with Division 1, the Patriots Division will include double race weekends at Richmond Dragway (April 17-19), Pittsburgh Raceway Park (July 10-12) and a much-anticipated return to Empire Dragway (August 21-23) in New York, along with a single national event during the IHRA President’s Cup Nationals at Maryland International Raceway (June 19-21).

Division 2 will include four stops spanning eight months beginning with the annual Wild Card season opener at Immokalee Regional Raceway (February 6-8), open to racers of all divisions. The series will remain in Florida for a pair of national events with the Southern Nationals at Bradenton Motorsports Park (April 17-19) followed one week later by the Palm Beach Nationals at Palm Beach International Raceway (April 24-26). The division will close with a double Pro-Am at Carolina Dragway (September 4-6).

The North Stars Division will feature one of the most diverse schedules on the tour with six stops in four different states plus Canada. Division 3 will begin its season at the IHRA Summer Nationals at Cordova International Raceway (May 29-31), followed by a return trip to Cordova for a stand-alone, double Pro-Am weekend (June 19-21). The series will travel north of the border for the Mopar Nationals at the Grand Bend Motorplex (June 26-28), followed by a summer stretch back in the United States. Pittsburgh Raceway Park will host a double Pro-Am weekend (July 10-12), followed by the IHRA Northern Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park (August 7-9). Dragway 42 will close the year with a Nitro Jam event (September 11-13).

The popular Renegades Division will include four stops spanning three months beginning with the San Antonio Nationals at San Antonio Raceway (March 13-15). Division 4 will also include stops at Pine Valley Raceway (March 27-29), State Capitol Raceway (April 10-12) and Memphis International Raceway (May 1-3). The Memphis event will once again be a Wild Card weekend open to racers of all divisions.

Division 6 will feature six races at three tracks, beginning with the IHRA’s debut national event in Washington with the Spokane Nationals at Spokane County Raceway (July 10-12), followed one week later by the popular Mopar Rocky Mountain Nationals at Castrol Raceway (July 17-19). An additional event will be added to the schedule at a later date. All three events will be double Pro-Am weekends.

Finally, the Raiders Division will once again feature a mixture of single and double Pro-Am Tour events. Piedmont Dragway (April 10-12), Farmington Dragway (May 1-3), Union County Dragway (May 22-24) and GALOT Motorsports Park (June 5-7) will open the schedule with four single events, followed by a Division 9 points-claiming race during the President’s Cup at Maryland International Raceway (June 19-21). Carolina Dragway (September 4-6) will close the year with a double race weekend.

The 2015 IHRA Summit Pro-Am Tour schedule is one of the largest and most diverse schedules in the history of the series. Check back with www.ihra.com for more details leading up to the season opener in February.
