CAYUGA, Ont. - TORONTO - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the Hooters
IHRA Drag Racing Series, Inaugural IHRA AC Delco Canadian Nationals listing lane,
driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Jack Ostrander Runs 8.870/83.42, Now #1
Ostrander launched hard and started to loose traction and pedaled it one time
before he lifted.
Left Lane: Bobby Lagana Jr Runs 5.297/251.06, Now #1
Right Lane: Josh Starcher Runs 8.630/38.90, Now #2
Starcher launched hard with 0.934 second 60-foot time, but then started to
loose traction and clicked it off by 330 feet. Lagana had a quick flash of flame
around half track, but keep his foot in it and the had a big fireball right in the
lights. The report from the top end is there is not any oil on the track.
Left Lane: John Sipple No Time, Now #5
Right Lane: Roger Dean Runs 6.955/130.29, Now #2
Sipple's crew shut him off after he did a short burnout. Dean started to lose
traction and he pedaled it one time.
Left Lane: Paul Romine Runs 4.899/281.36, Now #1
Right Lane: Louie Allison Runs 10.707/85.67, Now #6
Allison overpowered the track by 200 feet and clicked it off. Romine launched
hard and keep the the big Goodyears stuck all the wall through the 1320.
Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.815/293.35, Now #1
Right Lane: Bruce Litton Runs 4.906/281.19, Now #3
Millican and Litton launched hard and the header flames shooting way over the
the big rear wings all the way through the quarter mile. Here is a big surprise
Millican is number one after day one and Romine and Litton are two and three.

Left Lane: Louie Allison Runs 7.608/114.95, Now #6
Best prior run: 10.707/85.67, Was #8
Allison started to lose traction as soon as he hit the throttle and pedaled
one time and went back up in smoke and clicked it off.
Left Lane: Josh Starcher Runs 5.468/200.95, Now #5
Best prior run: 8.630/38.90, Was #7
Right Lane: John Sipple Runs 11.686/67.48, Now #9
No Prior Run
Sipple was dropping cylinders as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it
off. Starcher got out of the groove around half track and pedaled it to reel it
back in. When he did it threw the blower belt off and he coasted on through the
quarter mile.

Right Lane: Paul Romine Runs 4.895/291.26, Now #2
Best prior run: 4.899/281.36, Was #2
Romine with another good looking pass until he got to the top end and then the
engine looked like it might of started eating itself up. But Romine is the first
Top Fueler to get down both lanes of this track, so far.
Left Lane: Bruce Litton Runs 5.470/194.10, Now #3
Best prior run: 4.906/281.19, Was #3
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 6.732/124.72, Now #1
Best prior run: 4.815/293.35, Was #1
Millican started to loose traction at about 150 feet and pedaled it one time
before he went back up in smoke. Litton was on a good looking pass until about 800
feet and he started to haze the tires and lifted.

Dean was mixing up cylinders as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it
off. Sipple was able to keep the candles lit all the way through the 1320 to get in
the show.

Millican with an 0.862 second 60-foot time and just blasted on through the
quarter mile with a great 4.70 pass here. Litton was on his good pass until about
1100 feet.

Romine launched and then the engine let go with a quick flash of flame and it
looked like he was trailing fire all the way through the quarter mile. Starcher had
good pass until about 1000 feet and then he slowed on the top end.

Lagana wasted his engine the other night and could not make the call.
Starcher over powered the track by 150 feet, and clicked it off.

Litton with the starting line advantage and was never challenged by
Sipple.

Romine with the starting line advantage and was dropping cylinders on the top
end, but was able to hold on for the win. Dean got out of the grove and close to
the center line.

Allison took a gamble on the tree and lost. Millican continues his winning
streak with the quickest pass of the session. He will have lane choice over
Starcher and Litton will have his choice over Romine in the semifinals.

Here we go this is the sixth time this year these two have met and Litton
holds a 3-2 advantage.
Romine with a great light and was in the lead until
just before the finish line. Litton was able to catch him right at the stripe for
the win by about five inches.

Millican is out of the gate first and never looked back and was out of the
throttle early. He just tied Don Garlits for most final rounds in one season.
Starcher lost traction about 150 feet and clicked it off. Millican will have lane
choice over Litton in the final. This will be the sixth time this year these two
have met in the final.

Millican was out of the gate first and just motored on through the quarter
mile for his eight straight win and continue his dominance of this class. Litton
started to haze the tires and drop cylinders around half track.
