Left Lane: Larry O'Brien No Time, Now #2
Right Lane: Rick Jones Runs 6.684/207.91, Now #1
The temperature is 66 degrees with 82 percent humidity under overcast skies as the first round of Pro Stock qualifying begins. O'Brien got up on three wheels and went toward the wall, but he left too soon anyway so this run
Left Lane: Elijah Morton Runs 6.735/207.82, Now #2
Right Lane: Dwayne Rice Runs 6.753/207.15, Now #3
Morton was all over the left lane but still managed to complete a pretty good run. In the right lane, Rice got a bit loose but hung with it.
Left Lane: John Bartunek Runs 6.707/207.27, Now #3
Right Lane: Chris Holbrook Runs 6.690/209.30, Now #2
Two strong, if uneventful runs, put Holbrook and Bartunek solidly into the field.
Left Lane: Wally Stroupe No Time, Now #14
Right Lane: Chuck DeMory Runs 6.848/202.82, Now #11
Stroupe broke as he came off the line. DeMory completed his run.
Left Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 6.670/208.23, Now #3
Right Lane: Pete Berner No Time, Now #16
Spiess was strong from start to finish. In the right lane, Berner sat when the light turned green and then just drove slowly down the track.
Left Lane: Jeff Dobbins Runs 18.724/42.07, Now #16
Right Lane: Richard Penland Runs 11.525/74.02, Now #14
Dobbins shook the tires hard, got his front wheels off the ground, and banged the front end down very hard, all within the first 300 feet. In the right lane, Penland also shook the tires hard and just backed off.
Left Lane: Hank Hill Runs 13.261/63.53, Now #7
Right Lane: Brian Gahm Runs 6.686/210.67, Now #2
Hill got the front tires off the ground and was veering toward the wall when he backed off. Gahm held it straight and made a strong qualifying run.

Right Lane: John Montecalvo Runs 6.630/209.10, Now #2
Montecalvo had a great run from start to finish. Kirk was squirrely at the start but got it back for a fair run.
Left Lane: Tim Nabors Runs 8.080/123.07, Now #16
Right Lane: Ron Miller Runs 6.616/209.32, Now #2
Miller came off the line strong and just kept on going. Nabors made a run that looked okay, but must have been in slow motion for the quarter mile.
Left Lane: Jerry Yeoman Runs 6.669/208.78, Now #1
Right Lane: Billy Huff Runs 6.682/206.95, Now #2
This was the first run that Billy Huff made as both driver and car owner, having recently purchased the 2000 Cougar from Charlie Hunt. With the sale, the superteam of Huff and Montecalvo is no more. The change in ownership was good for Huff's car as he made a straight, quick run. In the left lane, Yeoman was quick from start to finish.
Left Lane: Rocky Watford Runs 6.825/204.35, Now #10
Right Lane: Carl Baker Runs 6.614/210.34, Now #1
Baker must have figured out his new car in Virginia two weeks ago. After taking the number one qualifying spot there for the ACDelco Nationals, he picked up where he left off with the quickest run to date.
Right Lane: Jason Collins Runs 9.104/103.17, Now #11
Collins shut it down early.

Results for Qualifying 2

SHREVEPORT, La. - SHREVEPORT - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Sunoco Race Fuels Pro Stock at the Hooters IHRA Drag Racing Series, 5th annual K&N Filters Nationals presented by Your Local Dodge Dealers listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Carl Baker Runs 15.029/95.47, Now #1
Best prior run: 6.614/210.34, Was #1
Right Lane: Rocky Watford Runs 13.739/60.54, Now #14
Best prior run: 6.825/204.35, Was #14
The temperature is 63 degrees at 91 percent humidity as the second round gets underway. The skies are overcast and the barometric pressure is 30.1 and steady. Baker had the fastest time in yesterday's qualifying session. This time, Baker spun the tires as he came off the line and backed off. Watford did the same in the right lane.
Left Lane: Billy Huff Runs 16.488/98.37, Now #6
Best prior run: 6.682/206.95, Was #6
Right Lane: Jerry Yeoman Runs 6.589/210.21, Now #1
Best prior run: 6.669/208.78, Was #4
Yesterday, Huff made one of his straightest runs of the year. This time, Huff's car shut down just as he left the line. Yeoman had a great run to beat Baker's top qualifying run from Friday afternoon. With the weather the way it is, it may not be long before someone beats Yeoman's time.
Left Lane: Ron Miller Runs 6.591/209.79, Now #2
Best prior run: 6.616/209.32, Was #3
Right Lane: Tim Nabors Runs 6.623/209.52, Now #4
Best prior run: 8.080/123.07, Was #16
Miller had the wheels up at the start of the run and hung on for a great time. Nabors got a little loose at 330 feet but straightened it out for a good run that moves him up in the order.
Left Lane: Chris Holbrook Runs 6.586/210.44, Now #1
Best prior run: 6.690/209.30, Was #10
Right Lane: Doug Kirk Runs 6.598/211.03, Now #4
Best prior run: 6.704/210.01, Was #11
Kirk went left and almost touched the center line but held. Meanwhile, in the left lane, Holbrook saw to it that Yeoman's #1 time did not last long as he made a great run to take over the top spot.
Left Lane: John Montecalvo Runs 6.577/210.64, Now #1
Best prior run: 6.630/209.10, Was #7
Right Lane: Hank Hill Runs 6.604/211.06, Now #6
Best prior run: 13.261/63.53, Was #19
Holbrook's time in the number one spot lasted about 3o seconds as Montecalvo quickly took over the top spot with a near-perfect run. Hill got a little loose at 800 feet, but stayed with it.
Left Lane: Chuck DeMory Runs 9.908/121.43, Now #17
Best prior run: 6.848/202.82, Was #17
Right Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 6.621/209.98, Now #8
Best prior run: 6.670/208.23, Was #9
DeMory backed off at 330 feet and coasted the rest of the way. He'll have to do well in the third round of qualifying if he wants to make the show. There was nothing wrong with Spiess's run other than it not being particularly quick.
Left Lane: Rick Jones Runs 6.646/209.95, Now #11
Best prior run: 6.684/207.91, Was #11
Right Lane: John Bartunek Runs 6.610/209.79, Now #7
Best prior run: 6.707/207.27, Was #13
Jones got a little out of the groove at 800 feet and had to fight his way back into it. In the right lane, Bartunek was a little loose but stayed with it the whole way.
Left Lane: Dwayne Rice Runs 6.712/208.39, Now #14
Best prior run: 6.753/207.15, Was #15
Right Lane: Jeff Dobbins Runs 9.414/97.20, Now #19
Best prior run: 18.724/42.07, Was #20
Dobbins got loose at 330 feet and backed off. Rice was loose coming off the line but pulled it together to finish the run and better his first round time.
Left Lane: Brian Gahm Runs 16.418/57.31, Now #14
Best prior run: 6.686/210.67, Was #13
Right Lane: Elijah Morton Runs 6.632/209.43, Now #11
Best prior run: 6.735/207.82, Was #15
Morton came off the line strong and kept it up for the entire quarter-mile. Gahm shook the tires as he came off the line and had to back off to avoid crossing the center line.
Left Lane: Pete Berner Runs 20.773/36.42, Now #22
				No Prior Run
Right Lane: Larry O'Brien Runs 6.679/208.84, Now #13
				No Prior Run
Neither driver completed a qualifying run yesterday so they have only two chances to make the show. Berner shook the tires hard and had to back off. He'll have one more chance to get into the field. O'Brien was a little loose in the first 330 feet, but kept it together and made the show.
Left Lane: Richard Penland Runs 6.666/206.83, Now #13
Best prior run: 11.525/74.02, Was #21
Right Lane: Wally Stroupe Runs 8.772/105.57, Now #20
				No Prior Run
Stroupe did not complete his run in round one and Penland had to shut down early, so both drivers need good runs to make the show. Stroupe came off the line well and looked good until he shut down at 800 feet. Penland got a little loose but not enough to prevent him from running quick enough to make the field.
Left Lane: Jason Collins Runs 6.978/163.95, Now #20
Best prior run: 9.104/103.17, Was #21
Collins 2002 Cougar is so new that it is still painted primer gray. He came off the line in good shape but started to drift and shut it down.
