Left Lane: Steve Stordeur Runs 6.382/216.97, Now #1
Right Lane: Mark Cox Runs 6.552/218.51, Now #2
2:10 PM It's 66 degrees, 82 percent relative humidity, barometer 29.89 and
steady, overcast, with a tailwind. We open with a very nice pair of runs, Stordeur
joining the select few to run in the thirties! Cox also had a nice pass, his speed
also well up there.
Left Lane: Doug Vancil Runs 6.883/186.51, Now #4
Right Lane: Mike Romine Runs 6.843/178.50, Now #3
Romine launched, shook, backed off on the throttle and hit it again - and the
number panel came off his wheelie bars!
Left Lane: Mark Conner Runs 6.484/213.27, Now #2
Right Lane: Johnny Mancuso Runs 8.075/112.40, Now #6
Mancuso's bike broke a drive belt, the belt slapping him in the leg near half
track. Nice pass by Conner. Mancuso was right with him until the belt broke.
Left Lane: Mark Revels No Time, Now #7
Right Lane: Jay Turner No Time, Now #8
Revels broke on the burnout, started to drive off the top end, then stalled
at mid track. Turner backed up to the water to try again.
Right Lane: Jay Turner Runs 6.619/189.31, Now #4
Turner waited until the track was clear, then restarted his engine and
skipped a second burnout. It worked pretty well, but Turner probably hoped for
something better than #4, his speed way off.
Left Lane: Ray Price Runs 6.700/189.23, Now #5
The "65th Anniversary Tour" continues with an amazing run since it was only
under power for about 1,000 feet. Price was fighting with the bike and then the
engine went silent. He was about a tenth of a second behind Stordeur at half
track.

12:30 PM It's 65 degrees, 85 percent relative humidity, overcast, the
barometer 30.12 and steady.
Turner had problems in the early part of his run
yesterday, Conner made a very nice run. Today both made clean runs, but Conner had
to back off a bit because his bike was steadily drifting left, toward the
centerline.

Stordeur just misses the backup for his 6.382 as a World Record, needing a
6.445 to do the trick. Cox was off the pace from the start.

No Prior Run
Revels launched and was drifting left, then the front wheel banged down and
there was a loud BANG and a flash of flame from the right side of his engine and it
went silent. Romine launched, shook, then his engine went silent.

Mancuso wasn't injured when a broken drive belt slapped him in the leg
yesterday and he made a very nice run here, carrying the front wheel to the finish
line. Vancil's bike went silent after the burnout.

Best prior run: 6.700/189.23, Was #7
Nice pass for Price to improve his standing a bit and close the round.

Two big runs to open the round, Conner into the thirties for a career best
elapsed time by a ton and Romine with a huge top speed.

Turner shut off after the burnout. Stordeur launched and the bike spit out
the drive belt.

Vancil fought the bike for the first 300 feet, then really came on strong to
reset the track speed record. There was nothing visibly wrong with Cox's run, but
he lost ground from his first run.

Best prior run: 6.446/214.89, Was #3
Ray Price won't run this round, breaking an input shaft earlier today. A
replacement is being air freighted here for tomorrow, but he's powerless tonight.
Nice pass by Mancuso, within thousandths of his earlier pass today.

11:32 AM Stordeur had a pending World Record, needing a 6.445 to back it up.
He gave up a lot on the tree and then not only backed it up, but exceeded it, so
now the elapsed time record is 6.378. Nice run by Turner, a good light and his
best run of the weekend by a bunch, but he had the misfortune to be paired with
Stordeur.

Cox almost matched his qualifying effort, but Romine knocked almost a tenth
off his and got the win light. He faces Stordeur next round, Stordeur with lane

Price broke an input shaft yesterday and got the replacement early this
morning. Looks like it's a winner, Price beating Stordeur's just-established

side-by-side all the way down the track. Vancil's incremental margins:
60ft(0.020), 330ft(0.034), 660ft(0.010), 1,000ft(0.010). MOV: 0.0125 seconds
(approximately 4 feet). Vancil faces Price next round, Price with lane
choice.

laboring on the top end, Romine wins on a holeshot, trailing to half track, then
taking the lead and the win. Romine's incremental margins: 60ft(-0.087),
330ft(-0.063), 660ft(-0.020), 1,000ft(0.006). MOV: 0.0117 seconds (approximately 4
feet).

cut the better light, but Price's run was flawless, resetting the elapsed time
World Record on this run. He trailed at 60 feet, but then drove by and steadily
opened the gap to win by several bike lengths.
