EPPING, N.H. - EPPING - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the Hooters
IHRA Drag Racing Series, 7th annual Amalie Oil North American Nationals listing

Left Lane: Jimmy Rector Runs 5.814/227.57, Now #1
Right Lane: Dale Brand Runs 10.742/77.93, Now #2
12:51 PM It's 71 degrees, 29 percent relative humidity, barometer 30.10 and
falling, under sunny skies.
Rector made a great opening pass, leaving hard
and straight down the groove with no visible shake. Brand launched into hard shake
and lifted.
Left Lane: Larry Dobbs Runs 7.309/129.83, Now #3
Right Lane: John Vouros Runs 5.944/239.14, Now #2
Both cars drove through visible shake, Dobbs then losing a blower belt while
Vouros did a nice job of saving the run.
Left Lane: Mark Thomas Runs 5.861/240.04, Now #2
Right Lane: Laurie Cannister Runs 7.990/109.39, Now #5
Cannister's car shook and skated to the right of the groove. She pedaled it
once, then gave it up. Thomas' car did not appear to shake on a very good opening
run.
Left Lane: Rob Atchison Runs 6.455/167.70, Now #5
Right Lane: Ronnie Midyette Runs 6.169/222.29, Now #4
Both drivers fought visible tire shake from the start and appeared to have it
under control until Atchison popped the blower hatch in the hood high in the
air.
Left Lane: Dave Ray Runs 6.001/233.52, Now #5
Right Lane: Mike Comella Runs 5.934/238.17, Now #3
Both cars shook a bit on the launch, a shop rag flying out of Comella's car,
but both got cleanly through the rest of the run.
Left Lane: David Rowe Runs 5.883/240.59, Now #3
Right Lane: Dan Roman Runs 6.022/234.82, Now #7
Two good runs, Rowe with a very smooth, straight effort.
Right Lane: Terry McMillen No Time, Now #7
Left Lane: Dave Keddy Runs 7.452/150.88, Now #13
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 6.056/227.27, Now #8
Keddy is a new face in IHRA Funny Car.
Right Lane: Charles Gambino Runs 6.144/230.53, Now #9
Nice run by Gambino, right down the groove.
Left Lane: Jim Sickles Runs 6.028/235.72, Now #8
This is Tom Anderson's new car, Jim Sickles the driver - also new to IHRA
Funny Car. As you'd expect from a Tom Anderson car, the car went cleanly down the
groove on a conservative tuneup.
