Left Lane: Josh Starcher Runs 12.478/80.72, Now #9
Best prior run: 9.575/82.91, Was #9
Right Lane: Donald Reed Runs 14.852/58.42, Now #10
Best prior run: 10.644/75.44, Was #10
2:19 PM - At the start of Top Fuel qualifying round two, the temperature was 84 degrees, humidity 56 percent and the barometric pressure was 29.98 and falling. Starcher and Reed came into this round in the ninth and 10th positions for the eight-car field. Both drivers spun and smoked their tires as they came off the starting line and both shut down by 330 feet. Both will need good runs in the last qualifying session tonight if they want to race tomorrow.
Left Lane: John Sipple Runs 5.469/261.62, Now #7
Best prior run: 5.607/216.81, Was #7
Right Lane: Roger Dean Runs 5.523/259.29, Now #8
Best prior run: 5.621/169.01, Was #8
Dean was on the bubble with a bump time of 5.621 seconds and Sipple was in 7th, so both drivers wanted to improve their times. Both drivers had good, clean runs and both improved their times from last night but not enough to move up in the order. However, Dean's quicker ET did move the bump time to 5.523 seconds. Dean lost a couple of cylinders at the end of this run.
Left Lane: Jack Ostrander Runs 7.767/103.75, Now #9
                                  No Prior Run
Right Lane: Bruce Litton Runs 14.832/70.26, Now #2
Best prior run: 4.884/292.11, Was #2
Ostrander did not make a qualifying run last night. He had to beat Dean's time of 5.523 seconds to make it into the field. Litton was in the number two spot coming into this round of qualifying. Litton smoked the tires at 60 feet and backed off right away. Ostrander made it to the 660-foot mark before he smoked the tires and he got out of his run too. The ET was quick enough to put Ostrander into the number nine spot for now but not quick enough to get into the field.
Left Lane: Paul Romine Runs 13.738/71.73, Now #3
Best prior run: 4.885/281.16, Was #3
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 12.522/73.86, Now #1
Best prior run: 4.810/299.50, Was #1
Millican and crew were unable to fire the car for the first round of eliminations in the NHRA event at St. Louis last week. They tried to find the problem on Monday but were unable to identify the cause, so they removed the new ignition electronics they were trying and went back to their basic IHRA setup. The move seems to have worked as Millican is in the number one qualifying spot after his run last night. This time, both Romine and Millican smoked the tires for the first 330 feet and shut it down.

Both cars made their burnouts but Dean started to leak and shut down. Sipple had a good run and improved his bump time to 5.384 seconds.
