12:44 PM - The temperature was 75 degrees at 61 percent humidity as the first
round of Pro qualifying got underway. The barometer was 30.09 and falling. Penland
had severe tire shake as he came off the starting line and had to get out of it
right away. Machacek had a clean run in the left lane.
Left Lane: Pete Berner No Time, Now #4
Right Lane: Charlie Peppers Runs 6.679/209.44, Now #1
Berner broke and stopped at about 200 feet. Peppers had a fairly clean run in
the right lane.
Left Lane: Dwayne Rice Runs 8.297/118.26, Now #5
Right Lane: Brian Gahm Runs 6.674/210.42, Now #1
Rice had a good start but backed off between 330 and 660 feet. Gahm had a
clean run but did not have a quick launch and it showed in his time.

Both drivers had some tire shake and both drove through it.

DeMory pulled the front end up and the car tried to turn left so he had to
back off. Gugliotta had a clean run but his 1.098 time for the first 60-feet slowed
him down.

Two clean but unspectacular runs.

Neither driver had a good 60-foot time. Both ran clean but just did not have
the quickness they needed to place higher in the field.

Morton shook the tires hard at 60 feet and started to veer left, so he got
out of it right away. Miller had a clean run.

Another pair of clean, but uneventful runs.

Paone got loose and wagged the tail of his car at 330 feet and he had to back
off. Holbrook ran clean in the right lane.

Dobbins got out of the groove and started heading for the center line. He
backed off to keep from crossing the line.

This is a new Cougar for Collins so he ran solo. He had a strong, clean run
that put him in the top of the field.
Right Lane: John Konigshofer No Time, Now #23
Another new car single. Konigshofer looked like he was making a good run but
he left before the tree was activated so he did not get a time.

6:58 PM - When the second round of Pro qualifying began, it was 80 degrees at
52 percent humidity. The barometric pressure was 30.01 and falling. Montecalvo and
Collins were a good start to round two of qualifying. Collins had the quickest
60-foot time of the day and a clean run the whole way. Montecalvo was clean two and
both drivers were quicker than anyone ran in the first round.

Jones wadded the tires, started shaking and started to turn sideways as he
came off the starting line. He got out of it quick. Nabors had a good run to the

stayed with it and salvaged a very good run. His 60-foot time was the quickest of

round, he had trouble coming off the starting line and really bogged down. He'll

degrees, humidity was 61 percent and the barometric pressure was 29.99 and steady.
Rice needed to beat the bump time of 6.743 to make this field. Rice got loose at 60
feet, veered sharply to the left and crossed over the center line behind Peppers.
He got off the throttle right away so Peppers was safely ahead of him when he
crossed over. Rice will have one more chance to make the field.
