Harley at the Hooters IHRA Drag Racing Series, 2nd annual ACDelco Nationals

Left Lane: Mike Romine Runs 7.521/132.66, Now #1
Right Lane: Jay Turner Runs 8.684/111.80, Now #2
1:17 PM It's 95 degrees, 40 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.00
and falling. Romine looked like he was on a good run, but his engine went silent
at half track. Turner's ride bogged off the line, then labored and he shut it
down.
Left Lane: Doug Vancil Runs 8.696/104.84, Now #4
Right Lane: Bill Furr Runs 7.259/144.33, Now #1
Both bikes left hard with 1.106 60-foot times, but Vancil then smoked the
tire and Furr abandoned the run around half track.
Left Lane: Mark Conner Runs 7.969/121.00, Now #4
Right Lane: Mark Cox Runs 6.700/198.47, Now #1
Finally a full pass, Cox setting the front wheel down around the 1,000-foot
marker. Conner was playing catch-up all the way and steadily losing ground.
Left Lane: Ray Price Runs 6.697/210.31, Now #1
Right Lane: Steve Stordeur No Time, Now #8
Stordeur lost power immediately. Nice pass by Price, who is on his "65th
Anniversary Tour" this year - not 65 years of racing, but 65 years of age.

Mancuso takes over the top spot - by just 0.002 seconds over Price.

Two nice runs to open the second session, #1 qualifier for Strodeur and big
speed for Conner and the #2 spot.

Cox fell off the pace early, then regained it but lost a bunch of elapsed
time. Nice pass for Vancil to get well up in the order after a bad first run.

Turner's bike went to the right, near the centerline, and he slowed. Good
run for Mancuso, right down the groove.

Furr smoked the rear slick and had to get all the way out of the throttle.
Romine's run looked good until about half track, then he slowed.

big speed.

Romine was sitting up before the 330-foot marker. Cox was slow from the
start.

Mancuso went right down the groove. Stordeur was riding a bucking bronco and
then the bike spit out a drive belt, so he coasted through.

6:20 PM This is simple. Jay Turner is the only rider outside the field and
the bump is Romine's 7.521. Romine's engine went sour midway through the run, but
he stayed with it and moved off the bump spot. Now the bump is Bill Furr's 7.259.
Cox made a solid pass, the front wheel in the air for about 1,000 feet, to retain
his hold on sixth spot.

Wow!! Price runs low ET of the event and a career-best elapsed time, the
second-quickest ever. Looks like he won't be retiring any time soon.

3:06 PM - The temperature is 97 degrees at 35 percent humidity. Track
temperature was 131 degrees a few minutes ago but some cloud cover has just moved
in. Conner got off the line first but then started to lose power by 100 feet.
Vancil just motored on by for the win.

Romine was a little loose at the start while Mancuso looked like he was on a
rope. At half track, Mancuso dropped the front tire and slowed, allowing Romine to

barometric pressure is 29.67 and falling. Turner broke about 400 feet down the
track and he got off the throttle.

Even though he has a pretty good reaction time, Romine was really slow coming

8:42 PM - The temperature was 82 degrees at 69 percent humidity when the
bikes pulled to the line. Vancil got off the tree quicker but Stordeur made up the
difference and got the win. Stordeur is the fourth Nitro Harley winner in the four
races that have taken place this year.
Stordeur margins: 60ft(-0.058), 330 ft(-0.054), 660ft(-0.026), 1,000ft(-0.005).
MOV: 0.0204 seconds (approximately 6 feet).
