Results for Qualifying 1

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - SUMMIT FastNews - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Mopar Pro Modified at the 31st annual Holley Spring Open presented by Advance Auto Parts listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Paul Athey Runs 18.676/39.22, Now #2
Right Lane: Dan Rowe Runs 14.120/42.04, Now #1
1:54 PM Athey's '51 Mercury went crooked on the launch and he shut it off immediately. Rowe's '38 Chevy shook hard and he also gave it up.
Left Lane: Quain Stott Runs 6.395/218.12, Now #1
Right Lane: Glen Kerunsky Runs 6.585/210.77, Now #2
Kerunsky is in a Pro Mod pickup truck and made a decent opening pass. Stott's run was more than decent, it was very good, fairly straight and clean.
Left Lane: Dale Brinsfield Runs 6.390/220.51, Now #1
Right Lane: Chip King No Time, Now #6
King's Avenger made a slalom run through the cones, barely missing the 1,000-foot reflector. Nice pass by Brinsfield right out of the box.
Left Lane: Steve Cossis Runs 6.823/167.76, Now #4
Right Lane: David Roemer Runs 31.255/21.42, Now #7
Roemer had a nitrous explosion about 100 feet out, a big ball of flame coming back over the roof of the car. Cossis' run looked good early on, but then he ran out of steam on the top end.
Left Lane: Steve Vick Runs 6.377/220.69, Now #1
Right Lane: Ed Hoover Runs 6.391/213.84, Now #3
Vick's car made a hard move toward the centerline at 330 feet and he drove through it nicely. Nice pass by Hoover, clean and straight.
Left Lane: Harold Martin Runs 6.510/212.09, Now #5
Right Lane: Ronnie Hood Runs 9.473/85.94, Now #8
Hood shook, Martin didn't.
Left Lane: Carl Moyer Runs 6.425/215.24, Now #5
Right Lane: Kirk Kuhns Runs 11.137/75.94, Now #10
Moyer made an easy, straight pass to get one on the books. Kuhns chattered the tires hard on the launch and coasted through.
Left Lane: Ron Kammes Runs 7.008/195.53, Now #10
Right Lane: Terry Housley Runs 6.580/212.36, Now #7
Kammes' Corvette chattered the tires and then wagged its tail before it got going. Housley made a full, fairly clean pass.
Left Lane: Mitch Stott Runs 8.323/114.13, Now #11
Right Lane: Wayne Torkelson Runs 10.028/86.98, Now #13
Both cars left hard and then got into tire shake around 300 feet.
Left Lane: Al Billes Runs 8.445/110.43, Now #12
Right Lane: Dwayne White No Time, Now #20
White broke at the line and was pushed back. Billes launched, skated toward the wall, then decided the concrete looked hard and shut it down.
Left Lane: Mike Janis Runs 6.395/218.51, Now #4
Right Lane: Kevin O'Dell Runs 7.387/140.18, Now #12
Janis made a nice run, almost no wiggles at all. O'Dell launched into shake, pedaled and continued, only to lose the engine around the 1,000-foot marker. The car was on fire as it disappeared from view (the shutdown area is downhill and the cars go out of sight) so the Professional Track Services crew got their first real action of the year, both fire and cleanup.
Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.393/218.55, Now #5
Right Lane: Tim McAmis Runs 6.382/218.12, Now #2
After the cleanup, two nice runs.
Left Lane: Alan Pittman Runs 6.335/219.94, Now #1
Right Lane: Shannon Jenkins Runs 11.307/65.97, Now #34
The two top performers in pre-season testing were paired here, Pittman running true to form and moving to the top of the field while Jenkins had severe shake and had to lift to stay out of the wall.
Left Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 6.362/215.86, Now #2
Right Lane: Mike Stawicki Runs 6.779/210.47, Now #20
Nice pass by Castellana to move right in behind Pittman in the order.
Left Lane: Roy Wasko Runs 6.533/211.03, Now #10
Right Lane: William Rojas Perez	Runs 11.233/76.87, Now #21
The right lane car may be misidentified and he certainly shook hard. Wasko made a fairly clean pass.
Left Lane: Troy Critchley Runs 6.412/201.91, Now #8
Right Lane: Michael D Lockwood	Runs 7.288/141.55, Now #16
Critchley's run looked good for the first 1,000 feet, then he slowed. Lockwood got in trouble much earlier than that.
Left Lane: Todd Howard Runs 6.456/216.62, Now #12
Right Lane: Ted Smith Runs 7.256/138.76, Now #17
Left Lane: Thomas Ray Patterson	Runs 6.485/217.91, Now #13
There was a '63 Corvette in the right lane, no data on record.
Left Lane: Paul Rocco Runs 6.980/194.04, Now #17
Right Lane: Chris Cline Runs 10.515/96.95, Now #26
Right Lane: Ken Regenthal Runs 6.573/212.06, Now #14
There's a red and yellow Corvette in the left lane, no data available.
Right Lane: Sal Passarelli Runs 8.012/203.89, Now #23
New driver single. The car shook and chattered and Passarelli pedaled it several times before getting the tires hooked up.
Left Lane: Scott Ray Runs 7.290/152.88, Now #22
Ray made the move from the defunct Pro Outlaw ranks to run Pro Mod this year. The car was way under-clutched here, the RPMs up and the car not going anywhere.
Right Lane: Fred Hahn Runs 6.466/210.47, Now #13
Hahn's first competitive pass in the new Corvette was not a disaster, but the car was not as crisp as usual for that team.
