6:39 PM The first rounds of the two shootouts are being run prior to the
"Night of Fire." We start with a staging duel, neither wanting to stage first.
Finally Buckley moved in with the blower car, but when he launched, one tire bit
and one didn't, the car sashaying wildly, almost collecting the wall.

Plummer outruns Doherty in a good race.

Good drag race, but Rocco can't stay with McHugh's quick '57 Chevy. McHugh
races Farmer in the semifinals and will have lane choice.

Juhasz nailed the tree and then Gugliotta had a nitrous explosion about 100
feet out, a loud BOOM as he slowed. Juhasz faces Plummer next round, Plummer with
lane choice.

7:35 PM These two fired and did their burnouts before the call came from the
very top end, "Oil on the shutdown area." So they shut down and waited a few
minutes, then tried again. Farmer broke this time around, so McHugh singled to the
finals.

(L) Allan Juhasz ('95 Monte Carlo) 0.000(R) (Broke)
Juhasz was unable to answer the staging call, so Plummer also got a single
run and was quick enough to earn lane choice against McHugh.
