NORWALK, Ohio - SUMMIT FastNews - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley at the 24th annual MOPAR Parts World Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

      Left Lane: Jack Romine      Runs 7.352/194.30, Now #1
     Right Lane: Johnny Mancuso   Runs 21.983/25.96, Now #2
Romine with a lot of tire smoke right off the starting line before he got it to hook up. Mancuso lifted the front tire and then shut it off and coasted on through the 1320.
      Left Lane: Ray Price        Runs 6.467/220.87, Now #1
     Right Lane: Mike Romine      Runs 6.712/198.00, Now #2
Price with a great blast a career best for the number one spot. Romine with a good run, but next to Price it looked like he was standing still.
      Left Lane: Doug Vancil      No Time, Now #6
     Right Lane: Bill Furr        Runs 6.737/181.76, Now #3
Vancil lost the drive belt around 100 feet and coasted on through the quarter mile. Furr with a nice looking pass.
      Left Lane: Bob Malloy       Runs 11.151/89.89, Now #6
     Right Lane: Tony Mattioli    Runs 6.730/206.86, Now #3
Malloy made a quick move toward the centerline and shut it off. Mattioli with a good clean pass.
      Left Lane: Stan Verheijen   Runs 7.456/192.25, Now #6
     Right Lane: Joe Scatella     Runs 7.489/191.87, Now #7
Verheijen smoked the big rear slick before he got it to hook up. Scatella with his first pass of the season on the IHRA Sceamin' Eagle tour and he gets into the show for now.

     Right Lane: Steve Stordeur   Runs 6.521/211.63, Now #2
This was a good looking side by side drag race here as they take the number two and three spots and bump out Scatella and Malloy to end the session

Scatella in his first IHRA event is just outside of the field looking to get in here. This will do it as he moves into the number seven spot. No help for Turner. There were no apparent problems on either run.

Verheijen carried the front tire to the 330-foot mark and then got real close to the wall in the shut down area. No help for Furr here.

Romine got real close to the centerline, but stayed with it to move up to the number eight spot spot. No help for Mattioli here.

Price had some header flames out around half track and then he collected the finish line cones to DQ a 6.460 second pass at 212.53 mph. Mancuso lost a belt and it took out the number panels on the wheelie bars.

Malloy bounced the front tire a few times right off the starting line. Romine with a good looking pass to move up one spot.

This was a drag race as they were glued together all the way down the 1320. Vancil moved into the number three spot and that wraps up Harley qualifying for today.

Verheijen smoked the tire and lifted the front tire right off the starting line, bouncing the front tire a couple times. He then got real close to the centerline. Mancuso is able to get it down the track, but will not get in the show.

7:54 PM This is the postponed final round from Stanton, run during the final qualifying session at Norwalk. Stordeur slapped a holeshot on veteran rider Price, but Price had the performance to drive by on the top end for the victory. Margin of victory = 0.051 seconds (approximately 15 feet). Good race!

This is the last qualifying session here and the finals from the Stanton, Mich. race. Price with a bracket bike here with another 6.47. Stordeur was right there with him.

Scatella was out of the groove and tried to steer it back into the middle of his lane. He will not make the show in his first IHRA Screamin' Eagle event. No help for Romine.

Both of these guys with the flames coming out of their headers blast on through the quarter mile for their quickest times of the weekend.

Romine broke as soon as the light turned green. Verheijen was out of the groove and was wrestling it back all the way down the 1320 and finally had to lift.

Under cloudy skies with the temperature around 81 degrees, humidity at 67% and the barometer is 29.92 inches.

Romine did his job on the tree and had him covered until half track and that was when Price drove around him. Price was out of the groove and close to the wall, but wrestled it back into his lane for the win.

Stordeur with the starting line advantage and then blasted on through for the win and lane choice in the final. Vancil blistered the big rear slick right off the starting line to end his day and coasted to a stop on the track.

This is a rematch of the final from Michigan that was run last night and Price won that one.
