Left Lane: John Vouros Runs 11.484/70.56, Now #4
Right Lane: Dale Brand Runs 5.904/234.41, Now #2
Vouros shook very hard and had to throw in the towel. Brand's car was

it off, but he made it all the way and the track check found nothing.
Left Lane: Terry Munroe Runs 6.747/195.99, Now #4
Right Lane: Monty Todd Runs 5.871/238.81, Now #2
Munroe's car shook and he pedaled it at least twice. Nice, strong, straight

Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 6.175/232.83, Now #5

car chattered the tires and headed for the centerline, so he shut it down.
Left Lane: Richard Krafft No Time, Now #9
The car in the right lane broke before we even saw who it was...and Krafft
left before the tree, then flirted with the guard rail.
Left Lane: Wayne Butler Runs 14.799/52.24, Now #10
Right Lane: Rob Atchison Runs 6.027/233.60, Now #5

return. Dobbs made a smooth, straight first pass.
Left Lane: Ronnie Midyette Runs 6.136/231.64, Now #7
No Prior Run
Right Lane: Terry Munroe Runs 6.165/233.68, Now #8

Right Lane: Jimmy Rector Runs 5.962/238.68, Now #1

the 20th annual CARQUEST Northern Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed
time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed
time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Monty Todd Runs 6.219/225.41, Now #2
Best prior run: 5.871/238.81, Was #2
Right Lane: Larry Dobbs Runs 6.119/228.69, Now #6
Best prior run: 6.066/231.32, Was #6
12:36 PM Both cars labored in the first part of the run.
Left Lane: Ronnie Midyette Runs 6.124/227.00, Now #8
Best prior run: 6.136/231.64, Was #8
Right Lane: John Vouros Runs 6.107/231.64, Now #7
Best prior run: 6.135/232.55, Was #7
Since only fourteen cars have made laps, there is no bump spot. Midyette
made a pretty good run, but the Vouros car encountered shake at mid track and is
still looking for the key to getting into the fives here.
Left Lane: Dale Brand Runs 5.969/234.04, Now #4
Best prior run: 5.896/230.37, Was #4
Right Lane: Steve Ruda No Time, Now #15
No Prior Run
Ruda had no prior run and the car didn't want to fire here, the crew
scambling and managing to get it to fire just as Brand was staging. Too late,
he'll have to get in in the final session tonight. Brand made a good-looking
pass, smooth and straight.
Left Lane: Rob Atchison Runs 13.638/58.83, Now #5
Best prior run: 6.027/233.60, Was #5
Right Lane: Wayne Butler Runs 6.037/228.38, Now #6
Best prior run: 14.799/52.24, Was #14
Atchison's car popped the wheels up and then started shaking the tires hard,
so he shut it down. Butler made a very nice pass to get off the bottom of the
ladder.
Left Lane: Laurie Cannister Runs 5.937/230.06, Now #5
Best prior run: 6.284/188.91, Was #12
Right Lane: Jimmy Rector Runs 6.016/234.09, Now #1
Best prior run: 5.861/240.94, Was #1

leaving Rector far behind.
Left Lane: Paul Noakes Runs 6.338/221.71, Now #13
No Prior Run
Right Lane: Mark Thomas Runs 10.510/80.70, Now #3
Best prior run: 5.889/242.10, Was #3
Thomas launched into severe tire shake, the car skating around and heading
for the centerline until he shut it off. Noakes made a clean, smooth pass to get
into the field. He is the fifteenth car to make a run, so if Ruda can get his car
sorted out by this evening we'll have a full field for eliminations.
Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 6.121/229.90, Now #10
Best prior run: 6.175/232.83, Was #12
Right Lane: Terry Munroe Runs 6.145/232.71, Now #12
Best prior run: 6.165/233.68, Was #11
Two good runs for very small improvements, McMillen leapfrogging Munroe on
the ladder.
Left Lane: Richard Krafft Runs 6.322/221.85, Now #13
Best prior run: 6.366/221.34, Was #14
Krafft made a very loose run, the car fishtailing most of the way down the
track.

Results for Qualifying 4
STANTON, Mich. - SUMMIT FastNews - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Funny
Car at the 20th annual CARQUEST Northern Nationals listing lane, driver name,
elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior
elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Steve Ruda Runs 6.258/226.81, Now #13
No Prior Run
Right Lane: Monty Todd Runs 6.010/231.52, Now #2
Best prior run: 5.871/238.81, Was #2
There are fifteen cars already on the ladder, so all Ruda needed to do was
post a legal run to make it into the field. He did better than that, making a
straight, smooth run to join the party (if he gets weighed and passes fuel check).
Todd made an easy pass, no muss, no fuss.
Left Lane: Terry Munroe Runs 7.850/113.49, Now #12
Best prior run: 6.145/232.71, Was #12
Right Lane: Ronnie Midyette Runs 6.260/205.94, Now #11
Best prior run: 6.124/227.00, Was #11
Both cars shook, Midyette heading for the centerline, and both pedaled it.
Munroe then gave it up, Midyette managed to complete the run.
Left Lane: Jimmy Rector Runs 5.953/237.30, Now #1
Best prior run: 5.861/240.94, Was #1
Right Lane: Rob Atchison Runs 6.077/233.03, Now #6
Best prior run: 6.027/233.60, Was #6
Two good runs, no visible shake in either lane.
Left Lane: John Vouros Runs 5.876/235.02, Now #3
Best prior run: 6.107/231.64, Was #9
Right Lane: Richard Krafft Runs 6.401/220.01, Now #14
Best prior run: 6.322/221.85, Was #14
Vouros finally found the problems that were keeping him planted in the sixes
and jumped right into the thick of things in the eighties. Nice run! Krafft's car
was on a straight line for the 660-foot marker and he barely managed to miss it,
yanking the car back to the groove.
Left Lane: Mark Thomas Runs 5.872/239.91, Now #3
Best prior run: 5.889/242.10, Was #4
Right Lane: Laurie Cannister Runs 5.939/236.71, Now #6
Best prior run: 5.937/230.06, Was #6
Thomas moves back up the ladder one rung, but Cannister gets the win light,
apparently working on her reaction times this weekend.
Right Lane: Dale Brand Runs 6.003/232.95, Now #5
Best prior run: 5.896/230.37, Was #5
Brand made a good run, but failed to improve.
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 6.020/233.72, Now #7
Best prior run: 6.121/229.90, Was #10
Nice effort by McMillen to move into the top half of the field, giving him
lane choice in the first round.
Right Lane: Joe Comella Runs 6.170/229.35, Now #13
Best prior run: 6.808/156.30, Was #16
Comella was looking to improve and avoid a first-round match with the #1
qualifier. He did that with a good driving job, the car trying to get out of the
groove and head for the centerline.
That's it, Rector is atop the ladder and
now will race Paul Noakes in round one.
