7:00 PM The "Night of Fire" opens with fireworks, off and on the track, the
first pair of the Lizzard Racing Engines Quick 8 ready to do battle. But
Guenther's big holeshot went for naught, his car slow off the mark with a 1.314
60-foot time and he shut it down.

Ragusa also got a big holeshot and made a strong pass, but Tomasino had too
much for him today
(W) Kasey Janzen ('93 Lumina) 0.551 6.503 213.23
(L) Rick Sornberger ('68 Camaro) 0.554 6.968 201.43
These two sat in pre-stage a long time before Sornberger finally went in.
They were even off the line and then #1 qualifier Janzen's blown car pulled away
for an easy win. Janzen will have lane choice against DeCoff next round.

(L) Doug Mills ('93 Thunderbird) 0.551 7.198 202.91
Tiffe left first and was never headed, but he loses lane choice to Tomasino
in the semifinals.

8:29 PM Tiffe refused to go in first, so Tomasino was the first to move in -
and then he left Tiffe sitting at the starting line to win easily.
(W) Kasey Janzen ('93 Lumina) 0.507 6.439 215.51
(L) Tim Decoff ('67 Nova) 0.489 6.789 202.97
Decoff got a very small holeshot and Janzen had way too much for him today.
The #1 and #2 qualifiers will meet in the finals, Janzen's blown car with lane
choice over Tomasino's blown car.

9:09 PM Janzen was a no-show and Tomasino won on a walkover, shaking and
having to get completely out of the throttle to tame it down.
