BUDDS CREEK, Md. - SUMMIT FastNews - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Outlaw at the 9th annual Expressautoparts.com President's Cup Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Leroy Dewdney Runs 6.352/218.27, Now #2
Right Lane: Dave Christensen Runs 6.267/213.43, Now #1
2:04 PM We open with a new entry in the left lane - don't know who it is, but it's a tough-looking altered. Two good runs on the newly ground and paved track surface.
Left Lane: Mick Snyder Runs 11.053/72.32, Now #4
Right Lane: Laurie Cannister Runs 6.130/208.05, Now #1
The points leaders square off in the second pair - Laurie launched with the wheels up and storms to a very nice result. Snyder also had the wheels up on the launch, but shut it down early, probably due to tire shake.
Left Lane: Michael Barclay Runs 6.131/223.58, Now #2
Right Lane: Scott Ray Runs 6.448/210.37, Now #5
Barclay posted a stout 0.967 60-foot time and ran away from Ray on a nice pass, just a clock tick slower than Laurie.
Left Lane: Mike Decker No Time, Now #8
Right Lane: Mark McElwee Runs 9.938/102.71, Now #6
Decker's car was late to fire and he had to do an abbreviated burnout - then had to drive out the other end when the car wouldn't go into reverse. McElwee went through the clutch on the launch and shut it down.
Left Lane: Neal Parker Runs 6.175/225.26, Now #3
Right Lane: Ed Lyons Runs 6.455/200.53, Now #7
Parker's '48 Fiat joined those in the 'teens on a nice, smooth pass. Lyons left hard, the wheels up, but fell back quickly from half track on.

Results for Qualifying 2

BUDDS CREEK, Md. - SUMMIT FastNews - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Outlaw at the 9th annual Expressautoparts.com President's Cup Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Grant Flowers Runs 6.694/197.74, Now #7
No Prior Run
Right Lane: Karen Haddock No Time, Now #11
No Prior Run
1:10 PM Haddock's engine died on the burnout and she had to be pushed back behind the line before Flowers could make his run. Nice pass for Flowers, clean and straight.
Left Lane: Ed Lyons No Time, Now #6
Best prior run: 6.455/200.53, Was #6
Right Lane: Neal Parker Runs 6.300/219.69, Now #3
Best prior run: 6.175/225.26, Was #3
Lyons broke on the launch and coasted through too slowly to get a time. Parker's Fiat altered launched hard, but labored in the middle of the run.
Left Lane: Mark McElwee Runs 6.614/208.71, Now #8
Best prior run: 9.938/102.71, Was #9
Right Lane: Leroy Dewdney Runs 6.800/209.33, Now #9
				No Prior Run
Dewdney was the mystery driver yesterday and his car failed tech after the run, so his first run was disqualified. This run puts him ninth in the order, half a second slower than yesterday. McElwee squeezes in on the bump spot with a clean pass.
Left Lane: Scott Ray Runs 11.471/79.94, Now #6
Best prior run: 6.448/210.37, Was #5
Right Lane: Mike Decker Runs 6.102/217.74, Now #1
				No Prior Run
Decker had problems yesterday so this was his first qualifying pass - and a fine one indeed, the dragster carrying the front wheels for about 200 feet on the launch and straight down the groove. Ray launched and slowed immediately, his problem not evident from our vantage point.
Left Lane: Laurie Cannister Runs 6.142/217.07, Now #3
Best prior run: 6.130/218.05, Was #2
Right Lane: Michael Barclay Runs 6.124/222.00, Now #2
Best prior run: 6.131/223.58, Was #3
We mistakenly keyed in Cannister's speed as 208.05 mph yesterday, we apologize for any confusion we caused. This was a nice show for the crowd, two string-straight runs as Cannister and Barclay swap spots on the ladder.
Left Lane: Dave Christensen No Time, Now #6
Best prior run: 6.267/213.43, Was #5
Right Lane: Mick Snyder Runs 6.142/223.25, Now #4
Best prior run: 11.053/72.32, Was #11
Christensen's car failed to fire, so Snyder closed the session on a single, the top five all in the 'teens now - a quick field indeed.

Best prior run: 6.267/213.43, Was #6
8:02 PM Big wheelie by Christensen, and it appeared something broke immediately for Snyder. "Oh-for-two" so far this round.
Left Lane: Mike Decker Runs 6.122/218.94, Now #2
Best prior run: 6.102/217.74, Was #1

"The Lady" retakes the #1 spot with a great pass, moving around Decker in the order.
Left Lane: Neal Parker Runs 6.848/154.39, Now #5
Best prior run: 6.175/225.26, Was #5

Best prior run: 6.694/197.74, Was #9
We were scheduled to see a pair of altereds face off, but Flowers' "Voodooist" would not fire. Parker's car once again labored in the middle of the run and he got close to the wall, so called it off.
Left Lane: Karen Haddock Runs 6.257/214.45, Now #6
                                  No Prior Run
Right Lane: Ed Lyons No Time, Now #9
Best prior run: 6.455/200.53, Was #8
Haddock had problems getting the car out of reverse on the burnout, but managed to get it staged. Then Lyons broke and Haddock bumped him from the field on a nice last-ditch effort.
Right Lane: Scott Ray Runs 10.168/97.73, Now #8
Best prior run: 6.448/210.37, Was #8
Ray was the final car, so he was safely in the field, but he wanted to move up and avoid a first-round match with the #1 qualifier. But tire shake ended his run early and the field is set.

 (L) Ed Lyons (Scotchguard Spitzer-Ford) 0.556 6.613 168.51
4:19 PM Lyons was in as first alternate for Neil Parker, the popular Fiat-bodied altered unable to make the call today. It didn't matter, Snyder recovered from his qualifying struggles to almost match Laurie Cannister's qualifying pace here.
 (W) Michael Barclay (Huntsville Engine Victory-D0.530 6.131 222.58
 (L) Karen Haddock (Dragster-Chevy) 0.000(R) (Broke)
Haddock had problems with the shifter, first trying to back up after the burnout, then trying to pull forward and stage. She ended up about 30 feet in front of the starting line, over against the wall while Barclay made his single run - a clean, straight run.
 (W) Laurie Cannister (Nicorette/Nicoderm Spitzer0.459 6.035 220.80
 (L) Scott Ray (CARQUEST Spitzer-Chevy) 0.441 7.419 132.61
The winner here faces Snyder in round two. Cannister resets the World ET record here with an easy win, also earning lane choice when the top two in points meet next round.
 (W) Dave Christensen (Spitzer-Chevy) 0.439 6.257 213.87
 (L) Mike Decker (Spitzer-Chevy) 0.442 6.341 217.21
Decker shook hard on the launch and had to backpedal - by then Christensen was long gone, the margin of victory = 0.087 seconds (approximately 28 feet). Christensen wins, but loses lane choice to Barclay next round.
