Results for Elimination Rnd 1

NORWALK, Ohio - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 1 eliminations in Omega Performance TS Shootout at the 23rd annual Mopar Parts World Nationals presented by Ethanol Performs!:

W/L Driver RT ET Speed

(W) Dave Tomasino ('69 Camaro) 0.503 6.512 210.18
(L) Kenny Rucker ('63 Corvette) 0.475 6.774 206.35
6:59 PM The "Night of Fire" opens with the Omega Performance Top Sportsman Shootout, the "Quick 8." Nitrous left lane, blower for Tomasino. Rucker got the holeshot, but Tomasino's bright red machine ran him down to win by a Margin of victory = 0.234 seconds (approximately 71 feet).
(W) Carl Rossler ('55 Bel Air) 0.507 6.790 201.67
(L) Scot Johnson ('92 Firebird) 0.487 (Broke)
Two "gas passers" here and Johnson launches into severe shake, calling it quits and coasting slowly through, too slow to get an ET.
(W) Mike Janis ('63 Corvette) 0.513 6.472 218.02
(L) Mike Lockwood ('66 Corvette) 0.546 6.847 176.88
Janis' blower car blows Lockwood away by a big margin. Janis will have lane choice against Rossler in round two.
(W) Jim Detrick ('99 Probe) 0.491 6.721 207.11
(L) Joe Boniferro ('99 Avenger) 0.456 6.807 205.01
Boniferro got the holeshot, but Detrick had the muscle to run him down and win by a Margin of victory = 0.051 seconds (approximately 15 feet). Detrick advances, but loses lane choice to Tomasino in round two.

Results for Elimination Rnd 2

NORWALK, Ohio - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 2 eliminations in Omega Performance TS Shootout at the 23rd annual Mopar Parts World Nationals presented by Ethanol Performs!:

W/L Driver RT ET Speed

(W) Dave Tomasino ('69 Camaro) 0.465 6.632 197.74
(L) Jim Detrick ('99 Probe) 0.475 6.760 205.57
7:56 PM Semifinals, Detrick using nitrous and Tomasino a blower. Tomasino won by a margin of victory = 0.138 seconds (approximately 42 feet), but made a big sacrifice to the aluminum gods in the lights, lots of white smoke from the pipes..
(W) Mike Janis ('63 Corvette) 0.494 6.445 217.77
(L) Carl Rossler ('55 Bel Air) 0.472 6.808 204.63
Wow. Janis' run would put him right in the middle of the Pro Modified field. He wins easily and has lane choice over Tomasino in the final round.

Performance TS Shootout at the 23rd annual Mopar Parts World Nationals presented
by Ethanol Performs!:

 W/L Driver RT ET Speed

 (W) Mike Janis ('63 Corvette) 1.029 9.318 94.83
 (L) Dave Tomasino ('69 Camaro) 0.000(R) (Broke)

10:48 PM  Tomasino's engine problems in the semifinals were apparently
terminal because Janis was unopposed in the final round.  He launched, shook,
headed for the centerline, and shut it down, a winner nonetheless
